Christopher Hitchens and Peter Hitchens God and the death bed

Christopher Hitchens and Peter Hitchens God and the death bed

Remember those G.I. Joe edu-mercials when you were a kid, “…and knowing is half the battle”—apparently, the other half is bloody carnage :o)

knowing20is20half20the20battle-3746320

But seriously folks: at this link you can hear a program from Issues, etc. that discusses a discussion between The Brothers Hitch: Christopher Hitchens and Peter Hitchens.

Via an email discussion some wrote a very telling comment:

…It’s one thing to be a kind of neurotic, telling yourself there is no God when you know there is, resenting Him and His authority, believing that you can defy and mock Him with impunity, and living accordingly … and then when brought down to utter nothingness and despair, you relent and repent. It’s another thing to simply and genuinely reject any and all notions of the supernatural, and to therefore reject all beliefs, mores, and doctrines that hinge solely upon them as superstitions, taboos, and shibboleths.
A man of the 2nd class – far from having his un-faith challenged by adversity – would instead have it confirmed by it. Now truly miraculous deliverance and complete cure at the very precipice of death in complete defiance of all medical science … that might have an effect. But to the hardened life-long materialist, no amount of evidence or even personal experience to the contrary ever dissuades them from their un-faith — indeed an actual change of any opinion is unheard of in any elderly established and successful man.

Now it’s certainly possible that Hitchens is a closeted man in the first class – his principle drive and cause seems to be not Materialism, but autonomy: his atheistic-materialism may well be but a means to that end. But Hitchens delights too much in being a controversial iconoclast roping and branding sacred cows and shouting that the emperor has no clothes as often as he can: it’s the very basis of his image of himself (and his fame and fortune) … which is probably his true god, and one to which he will remain faithful and willingly, even joyfully, sacrifice himself…

That “Hitchens delights too much…” is indeed true, which is why he refers to himself as an “anti-theist.”

The greatest issue with the death bed conversion is that a death bed is not guaranteed. Whoever said that you will rest upon a death bed and reflect upon your life, etc.? One car wreck or one fallen piano could spell your instant demise.

Daniel Dennett suffered a heart attack and he took pleasure in praising man and science for his physical salvation stating, “Thank goodness I’m alive.”

Richard Dawkins stated that he is going to record his death bed experience so that it will serve as proof that he did not repent, “When I’m on my death bed, I’m going to have a tape recorder switched on” to keep people from claiming what has been claimed of others such as Charles Darwin, that “they had a death-bed conversion when they didn’t…It’s not going to happen.”
Imagine being so very, very, very assured of your own correctness.

Indeed, when it comes to God knowing is half the battle. The Bible states that demons most certainly believe in God but what of it? “You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe and tremble” (James 2:19). They know, they believe—so what? They do not repent, they rebel against and hate the God whom they know to exist.

Imagine spending a good portion of your lifetime (and like the celebrity New Atheists; making a living by) besmirching and condemning God via thought, word and action. If you suddenly were convinced that God existed would it not be tantamount to being convinced that some dislikable figure in myth or legend is real? Sure, now you know that they are real, they exist, but you hate them all them more for really existing.

It requires an act of God to become humble enough to accept that His ways are not our ways and that His thoughts are not our thoughts but are higher (Isaiah 55:8). It requires a calling from God to come to God.

These are the fallacies of atheists demanding evidence: 1) they demand evidence without providing evidence that proves that evidence should be demanded 2) they suppose that evidence convinces 3) they assert that evidence will heal a wicked heart.

Jesus the Messiah, the way, truth and life and not evidence cleanse the heart, mind and soul.

Homosexuality

Well, the title does not sound as it should as it should read as “Gays…in…space, space, space, ace, ace, ace…” (echoing and getting fainter) as in those old sci-fi movies.

The latest fracas in the realm of homosexuality is that they will have their very own planet. Some homosexuals are pleased at the prospect and some considering segregation.

We recently lost “Pluto” as a planet so might as well replace it with a gay planet which is to be called, “Makeb.”

Red Hot Chili Peppers

Sex, sex, sex, sex, sex, sex, sex; turn on your TV at any given moment, even bunny ears broadcast, and one minute will not pass without you hearing a reference to sex. Sex is why Dancing With the Stars is no longer watchable by the family—as it has become Dry Humping With The Stars Dressed In A Manner That Would Embarrass Daisy Duke. Family Feud has become unwatchable by the family as many of the topics deal with nudity, sex, strippers, etc. Yet, this is not about sex but about the corruption thereof.

Sex magick in pop-occulture and in the Superbowl

Sex, sex, sex, sex, sex, sex, sex; turn on your TV at any given moment, even bunny ears broadcast, and one minute will not pass without you hearing a reference to sex. Sex is why Dancing With the Stars is no longer watchable by the family—as it has become Dry Humping With The Stars Dressed In A Manner That Would Embarrass Daisy Duke. Family Feud has become unwatchable by the family as many of the topics deal with nudity, sex, strippers, etc. Yet, this is not about sex but about the corruption thereof.

This is nothing new. For example, Hollywood was virtually founded upon perversion, “Come up and see me sometime.” Yet, it was the 1960s AD which, within the USA, really kicked things into high gear with the sexual devolution. Yet, free love was not free but there was a very high price to pay; STDs, abortion, broken homes, children with one parent, etc., etc., etc. and etc.
Yet, it was more than about people becoming so evolved, brilliant, spiritual and enlightened that they figured out how to act like a dog in heat. It was about sex magick. Within the USA, the 60a were a time which combined very many issue, two of which were a massive proliferation of occultism and the corresponding sex which always, by definition, accompanies it. By occult, we are referring to the externalization of the hierarchy, to rearing the ugly head of sexual perversion into the open under the guise of spirituality, tantra, magick and or even fun and “love.”

In the last century, the Ordo Templi Oriantis-O.T.O. got on Aleister Crowley’s case because they thought that he was stealing their magickal secrets. Crowley published a text in which he prescribed sex as a part of magickal workings and this was the OTO’s modus operandi. Crowley claimed to be unaware of the OTO’s practices; he just happened upon the idea. Of course, this idea is as old as perversion itself.
Consider that temple prostitutes have been around for millennia. And to bring this right up to date, note that former member of Anton LaVey’s church of satan and founder of the temple of set, (Ret) US Intelligence officer Col Michael Aquino, made an interesting statement during the legal battle between US Army Maj Grady McMurtry and Kenneth Grant regarding the legitimate chartered of the US Grand Lodge of the Ordo Templi Orientis (OTO):

While sitting in the courtroom watching Judge Legge preside sternly over the slug-out, I couldn’t help wondering if he had any idea he was ruling on which group had legal claim to anal sex as the supreme religious sacrament in the United States.
—Scroll of Set Vol. XII no. 5, Oct. 1986 AD

Aquino is married to a woman so to him, and Crowley, and all such personages; any orifice will do. Led Zeppelin’s good ol’ “In Through the Out Door” which was probably a better album name than, say, “We Love Sodomy.” Of course, The Doors just came right out with it as Jim Morrison sang, “Back Door Man.” Yes, Crowley was a man amongst men…and he was a man who had been amongst many men (for more on this topic in general, if you dare, see Sex magick: satanic sodomy and the Typhonian tradition).

One has to wonder if this occult corruption of sex has to do with the fact that, as seen in the attached image, in a cursive style of Greek; 666 is written with the letters Chi (600), Xi (60) and Stigma (6) which looks very much like XES which, in typical occult fashion, would be reversed so as to read SEX.

In On Grant Morrison book “Supergods”, which is about the possessed comic book author (see here for the proof), we quoted a report which noted:

…The Invisibles—a series about voodoo, time travel and the Marquis de Sade—was in danger of being canceled, he mobilized his fans in an unusual way: He exhorted them to participate in a worldwide magic spell by masturbating on Thanksgiving Day. Yes, he held a ‘wankathon.’ It worked—or at least sales of The Invisibles improved.

This is nothing more than sex magick; on purpose and for gain. Consider, as another example, that one of the “top 10 most terrific revelations that [Aerosmith’s Steven] Tyler shares with us, his loyal readers” is that “He practiced Sex Magick.” Tyler stated, “‘I’ve practiced Crowley Magick so I know it works,’ Tyler writes of channeling the power of the mutual orgasm to achieve wider goals.” He notes that he is not claiming that “every girl I slept with” was consciously involved or that he “asked her to pray for the same thing I was praying for” but that he was consciously practicing ritualistic sex magick and having sex as a vehicle for prayer “namely that Aerosmith would become the greatest American band’” (Marc Spitz, “Top 10 Revelations in Steven Tyler’s Memoir, Does the Noise in My Head Bother You?,” Vanity Fair, May 9, 2011 AD).

More recently, Bruno Mars performed at the Superbowl—along with the Red Hot Chili Peppers—and, during a family-time-event and flanked by children, sang the song, “Locked Out of Heaven” some of the lyrics of which are:

…swimming in your water is something spiritual / I’m born again every time you spend the night / Cause your sex takes me to paradise…Cause you make me feel like, I’ve been locked out of heaven / For too long, For too long…You bring me to my knees / You make me testify / You can make a sinner change his ways / Open up your gates cause I can’t wait to see the light / And right there is where I wanna stay…Can’t I just stay here / Spend the rest of my days here.

Sex magick.

For their part, the Red Hot Chili Peppers have an album and song titled, “Blood Sugar Sex Magic”:

…Step into a heaven where I keep it on the soul side / Girl please me, be my soul bride / Every women has a piece of Aphrodite / Copulate to create a state of sexual light…I mingle with the Gods, I mingle with divinity
Blood sugar baby / She’s magik / Sex magik, sex magik / Dimensions to discover in time / Each into the other, uncontrollable notes…

Sex magick.

During the video for the song “Airplane” the Red Hot Chili Peppers had children dancing around, including the bassist Flea’s daughter, while the song stated, “I like pleasure spiked with pain.”

Sadomasochistic sex magick.

201420superbowl-3796937

Ciara, who has been see wearing an Aleister Crowley shirt and a jacket with huge letter reading “XIV Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn”—a magickal group of which Crowley was a part—corroborated upon a song with Justin Timberlake which it titled, “Love Sex Magic”:

1, 2, 3 Go / Ciara / Sex / Ciara/ Here we go, talk to ’em / Ya touch is so magic to me / Stangest things can happen…I wanna do something you can’t imagine / Imagine, if it was a million me’s talking sexy to ya like that…Baby show me, show me, / What’s your favorite trick that you wanna use on me / And I’ll volunteer…Doin’ tricks you never seen / And I bet that I can make ya believe…Cause you know that I can make you believe / In love and sex and magic…

Sex magick.

Add to this Katy Perry’s “E.T.” and Lady Gaga’s “Venus” and we have sex with aliens, angels, gods, goddesses, etc. And these are not just songs about sex but about being willing victims who give themselves over to entities willingly; the stuff of which possession is made. Also see our article John Zorn’s occult ditty since he too has written a song called “Sex Magick.” For details on this, see:

Katy Perry: is “Part of me” an alien, an angel or the devil?

Lady Gaga’s “Venus” – sequel to Katy Perry’s “E.T.”?

Sex black magick.

Well, Steven Tyler’s sex magick prayers came true but what about Bruno Mars’ very public occult ritual?
Edna Gundersen (“Super Bowl super-sizes headline act Bruno Mars’ sales,” USA Today, February 12, 2014 AD) reported:

Bruno Mars’ chart stats get super-sized this week thanks to his splashy Feb. 2 Super Bowl halftime performance. Unorthodox Jukebox jumps to No. 3 from No. 7 after selling 81,000 copies, up 92%, and Doo-Wops & Hooligans leaps eight slots to No. 11 with 26,000, up 58%, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The data covers sales through the week ending Feb. 9. It’s the first time since 2003 that a halftime headliner has landed in the top 10 with an older album after the game, according to Billboard…. Mars has 10 entries in the digital songs chart, four of them in the top 40. Locked out of Heaven sold 70,000 copies, up 32%, and climbed to No. 23 from No. 51.

Also enjoying gains are Treasure at No. 23 with 61,000, up 59%; Just the Way You Are at No. 24 with 59,000, up 43%; Young Girls at No. 37 with 43,000, Runaway Baby at No. 55 with 30,000, up 133%; and Gorilla at No. 97 with 18,000, up 23%.

“what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul?”

Glenn Beck and Mormonism: when criticism equals attacks and hatred

Where’s the love?

I thought that we were to heed the media, pop-cultural, political vox de jour and tone down the vitriol.

Yet, when I recently posted Is Glenn Beck a Mormon-new-age guru? and the emotive sentiments were scattered far and wide: from being referred to as hateful and someone who attacks to actually stating that I am helping satan.
By the way, in case you did not know: if you cannot logically and fact-fully argue against someone, you simply say that they are attacking and being hateful. This moves the discourse from one of facts to one of emotions. Now, when someone is experiencing an emotion what sort of facts will prevail. After all, emotions are real/tangible sensations whilst facts are abstract concepts. Thus, you can do a drive by comment, say “hateful” and “attack,” pat yourself on the back for telling’em and move on.

Quite a few comments were logically and theologically erroneous. All seemed to agree that all religions, including Mormonism (which is, so they say, Christian) are valid and that we should not disparage it. Yet, all seemed to agree that Christianity, proper, is false and we should disparage it.

Following are the comments and my responses (as of Jan. 24, 2011 AD). Whilst within the confines of a predetermined number of characters allowed for comments I still hope that, that which follows will provide some examples of how to respond to such sentiments:

Mother Becker wrote: Ken, this is a horribly written article. If you’ve written 1500 essays, its amazing that you haven’t mastered the semicolon.

That said, I hate Glen Beck, too. He’s crazy, and dangerous. And I’m a Latter Day Saint.

I wrote: Those of us for whom English is a second language and suffer from dyslexia-like symptoms prefer empathy to ridicule but I realize that some people do not have much more with which to work.

And I do not share your point of view in that I do not hate Glenn Beck (“Glenn” is spelled with a double “n,” by the way) or anyone at all.

ryanwin wrote:
Ken, instead of looking for the bad in others, you should look at similarities, thereby accentuating the good. Glenn Beck isn’t perfect, but he is a force for good. As for Mormons, I know plenty of ’em, and they are good God fearing people. They simply have a different interpretation of the Bible than you do. It is Satan’s goal to divide and conquer, and you are helping him.

I wrote: Why are you looking for the bad in me? You see, you are contradicting yourself by writing to me in order to tell me that I am doing wrong. Moreover, why should I look for similarities? It is the supposed but not real similarities between Mormonism and Christianity that have people confused about both. I can accentuating the good qualities of Mormonism (such as mentioning their great stereotypical families) while pointing out their theological errors. Moreover, they most certainly do not “simply have a different interpretation of the Bible” but hold to un-, non- and anti-biblical doctrines. For example, believing that they can become gods is not a “different interpretation.” It is no interpretation at all.

It is fascinating to know that even though Beck is the one that believes that he can become a god and you look for the bad in me: I am the one who is personally helping satan.

Anonymous wrote: your approach towards mormonism is condescending and uniformed. Im not even LDS, but I know for a fact that socially, theologically, and in every other way they are christian. And more christian than most christians I might add.

As for your back-handed attack on Glenn Beck,; you clearly don’t know the man! He is LDS, not new age. He may quote them because they may have said something they agree with. The fact that I read the koran and quoted it in an english essay doesn’t mean I’m muslim, or even pro-muslim! But I realize, as Christ would want me to realize, that there is good in every faith, truth in every book, and joy in every heart. Sometimes its hard to find, but its there, and we MUST find it if our world is to become better and more peaceful.

I wrote: If Mormons are Christian why did Joseph Smith say that he asked God which church to join and God told him, “join none of them, for they were all wrong…all their creeds were an abomination in his sight; that those professors were all corrupt…He again forbade me to join with any of them…” (Pearl of Great Price – Joseph Smith – History – 2:18-20). If my “approach towards mormonism is condescending and uniformed” why do you not refute anything I stated? Smith who was first to draw a permanent distinction between Mormonism and Christianity. That Mormons’ PR campaigns has made those who do not know their history/theology refer to them as Christians is another story. Read the quotes again: he is stating that these things are true, they are true of him and you and he is prescribing them. What makes you think that Christ would want you to realize that there is good in every faith, truth in every book, and joy in every heart? His message was 100% opposite of that, “I am the way, the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father except through me.”

We should not become more peaceful by pretending that things that are not true are true and that there are similarities in substance where there are merely similarities in terminology. We should become more peaceful by recognizing our free will, the free will of others to believe as they please and our free will to discuss.

Anonymous wrote: You know for a fact that LDS are theologically sound? Have you asked them if there is salvation for non-LDS Christians? Unfortunately they dodn’t even follow their own theology. For example, the Book of Mormon states there is only one God, he always was and will always be God. Yet one of the “Statements of faith” is the following: “As man now is God once was, and as God now is man may become”

Believing God was a man and that a human can be a God goes against even what they view as “The most correct book”.

Tracy Hall Jr wrote: Glenn Beck is not an official spokesperson for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, nor does he pretend to be one. Nor, for that matter, neither am I. By attacking Mormonism on the basis of Beck’s beliefs, Ken employs the logical fallacy of the “straw man.” Apparently he has not heard, or chooses to ignore, the call of evangelical Christian leader Richard J. Mouw to refrain from bearing false witness against the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

To learn what Mormons actually believe, go to the pure source. Why drink downstream from the anti-Mormon feedlot? Try something creative, original, and “out of the box.” Try actually reading “The Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ!”

[email deleted]

In the next comment Tracy elucidated, “Sorry about the double negative. I should have written ‘For that matter, neither am I.’”

I wrote: I am afraid that your logical fallacy detector has misfired. If my premise could be written as the following syllogism: 1) Glenn Beck is a Mormon. 2) Glenn Beck holds to erroneous beliefs. 3) Therefore, Mormonism is false. Then you may have a point but you must consider the context which was asking if and pointing out that Glenn Beck is speaking out as a Mormon-new-age guru. I have read lots of Mormon literature and have had discussions with Mormon missionaries in my home for months at a time. It was Mormonism’s founder, Joseph Smith, who, according to your emotive terminology, “attacked” Christianity by claiming that when he asked God which church to join, God Himself told him, “that I must join none of them, for they were all wrong; and the Personage who addressed me said that all their creeds were an abomination in his sight; that those professors were all corrupt; that: ‘they draw near to me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me, they teach for doctrines the commandments of men, having a form of godliness, but they deny the power thereof.’ He again forbade me to join with any of them…” (Pearl of Great Price – Joseph Smith – History – 2:18-20).

If I am bearing false witness may God help me repent. But then, why were you unable to provide even one single example of my doing so?

Congrats on one thing, you’ve come up with the poorest researched and written article of the year. On the bright side, it’s only January and there’s plenty of time for other senseless and slanderous dribble to be written in the upcoming months.

If your “logic” is that something must be false if it is presented via a poorly worded argument then you are simply mistaken. Noting that you have nothing to offer in the way of refutation but merely wanted to besmirch and run; I big you farewell.

Johnnylingo62 wrote: I think Glenn Beck uses various religious sources, some not Christ-based, to show that there is “good and truth” in most regions of the world, and in many dispensations of time. As a world traveler, I try to see “common good” that is the basis for most religions. The Mormons believe that there is good in all religions. They say, “bring your truths with you and explore what we have, and you may find that we can improve each other.” If there is a living prophet in the Mormon church, shouldn’t you be just a little curious what he is saying to this generation? Unfortunately, Ken seems to confine truth to only be found up until the end of 70AD. But who is the prophet that Amos says God will surely reveal his intentions to His prophet before he does anything on the earth (Amos 3:7 “Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets”.)

Glenn Beck does not promote himself to be a prophet, but I’m sure he believes there is a prophet on the earth today, as do I. His name is Thomas S. Monson.

I wrote: If it is true that “Mormons believe that there is good in all religions” why did their founder, Joseph Smith, claim that God Himself told him the following about Christian churches, “I must join none of them, for they were all wrong; and the Personage who addressed me said that all their creeds were an abomination in his sight; that those professors were all corrupt; that: ‘they draw near to me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me, they teach for doctrines the commandments of men, having a form of godliness, but they deny the power thereof.’ He again forbade me to join with any of them…” (Pearl of Great Price – Joseph Smith – History – 2:18-20) The very premise of their religion is not that “we can improve each other” but that Christianity is an abomination and that Mormonism is the restored version. How can truth be confined up until the end of 70AD? We are learning new things all of the time. Yet, divine revelation between God and humanity as a whole has been revealed and any latter day revelation must be judged according to it.

If there is a living prophet in the Mormon church, we should heed his words; no question about it. Yet, that is a big “If.” It is big enough to distinguish between truth and heresy. The Bible is monotheistic, the Book of Mormon and other Mormon publications are monotheistic but the “living prophets” tell us that we can all become gods through their religion. Thus, they are not “living prophets” but false prophets.

As you can see in Jeff Durbin debates two Mormon missionaries; this really is the bottom line to many, if not in some ultimate sense all, Mormons: the living prophet de jour said it, it must be true, we will not question it, case closed.

Clearly, Ken is on the pro-Jesus side of spirituality. I like that about him. Are Mormons saved? If their faith is in the person of Jesus and his accomplishments through his death and resurrection, then yes. Are they Christians? No. Christians uphold traditional Christian beliefs and hold the Bible to be their only rule for faith and practice (tho’ admittedly their practice falls short). Like the gnostics of long ago Joseph Smith thought to ride on the coattails of Jesus’ fame, put his own spin on it, and gather a following. He did. It worked. Beck is doing the same thing methinks. Looking to ‘save’ the world from the evil liberals and invoking his version of spirituality to justify his efforts. Scary stuff indeed.

Actually, we are pretty much directly on the same wave length.

jn3792 wrote: It takes no talent to create a definition of Christianity with the intent to exclude a particular group. It is really all semantics anyway. You can play around with words all you want, but one thing is clear – Jesus Christ, as Savior, Redeemer and Son of God, is at the very center of Mormon theology. Period.

I also disagree with the idea of Joseph Smith “riding the coattails of Jesus’ fame’. When Joseph Smith was shot to death by a mob, he left behind very few earthly possessions. Additionally, the Mormon Church is perhaps the only Christian church on earth that doesn’t have a professional, paid clergy. 99.9% of the ecclesiastical leaders of the Mormon church receive no compensation.

I wrote: Joseph Smith concocted “a definition of Christianity” under the name of Mormonism and/or LDS, “with the intent to exclude a particular group” (just read Pearl of Great Price – Joseph Smith – History – 2:18-20). Mormonism plays around with words since and they got you to think that “Jesus Christ, as Savior, Redeemer and Son of God, is at the very center of Mormon theology. Period.” Yet, go beyond the words, “Jesus,” “Christ” and “Jesus Christ” and actually look at how the Bible defines those words, that person and look at how Mormonism defines those words, that person: they are completely different in nature, mission and person. It is like saying, that anyone in the world named “Chuck Palmire” are the same person because all of their names are “Chuck Palmire.”

Also, do not forget to mention “When Joseph Smith was shot to death by a mob” he was not innocently stating, “Father forgive them, for they know not what they do” but rather, he was blowing people’s brains out. So, indeed, in that sense you are quite right; he was not “riding the coattails of Jesus” in any way.

Anonymous wrote: Wow, hateful! Why attack someone’s faith when that person is simply saying, we all can do better than this; now is the time!

I don’t have to know much about Ammi to understand that his hatred of Mormonism has muddled his perception of a simple call to be a better human, no matter what path we are taking.

I wrote: Please reconsider, you call me hateful and say that I am attacking but then, your comment is meant to tell me that I am wrong for telling someone else that they are wrong but if that is so then you are wrong for telling me that I am wrong and thus, you are being hateful and attacking me.

You may state “no matter what path we are taking” but Jesus disagrees with you in stating, “Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.”

Mormons cover up controversial proxy baptism for the dead

We continue, from part 1, considering the issue of Mormon (Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints—LDS) baptism for the dead such as Adolf Hitler, other Nazis, Communist Regime leaders, Jewish Holocaust victims, etc.

Don McAreavy inquired with the LDS Family History Library regarding whether temple services had been performed for Adolf Hitler and Eva Braun. The response from Mae Dean Ashton (Team Leader Photoduplication Unit) was in the negative:

…We searched the International Genealogical Index TM Addendum and found no information listed for either. The enclosed printout is the closest we could find and you will note that birth dates are 1836 and 1838. No additional information is available.

The referenced printout was of LDS “proxy ordinances” as baptism for the dead also included “Alois Hiedler or Heidler (Hitler),” Adolf Hitler father.

Further research uncovered:

IGI (International Genealogical Index) copies reveal that Adolf Hitler was indeed baptized and “endowed” on Dec. 10, 1993, and “sealed” to his parents on March 12, 1994. These events took place in the London Temple, England. Robert’s copies also show that Hitler was “sealed” to Braun on September 28, 1993, in the Jordan River Temple, Utah, and on June 14, 1994, in the Los Angeles Temple.

Yet, the cover up had leaks:

These entries could once be found in the IGI. They have since been deleted, along with other entries for prominent Nazis…But the deletion effort was botched. Some entries were missed, such as the ones still current for Hitler and Braun, in the IGI and Ancestral File…copies of all of the LDS ordinance records for Hitler which are currently in the Ancestral File – but no longer in the IGI.

Note that “the LDS Church agreed to stop posthumous baptisms for Jewish Holocaust victims” and that “Under the agreement, the church removed some 400,000 Jewish names from its International Genealogical Index.”

This is rather odd, in a way, since if Mormons truly believe that they bring salvation to the lost via posthumous baptisms: why would they no longer perform them for Jewish Holocaust victims?

Now, back to the “arguably” issue with which we began as it pertains to whether Hitler, Stalin, et al. will really be in the Mormon heaven(s).

The LDS Family Search Center in the Joseph Smith Memorial Building in downtown Salt Lake City noted:

…we believe that ordinances performed in behalf of any deceased individual are valid only if that person is worthy of and chooses to accept what has been done in his or her behalf.
The Church spends a great deal of time, effort, and money to make information available that helps not only its members, but all who are interested in family history pursuits.

Also note that LDS Church spokesman Michael Purdy:

…said any temple work done for them is for naught…“temple ordinance work for these individuals has already been nullified”…“Members of the church have a preeminent obligation to their own ancestors [and] should not submit for temple ordinance work the names of celebrities and non-approved groups”…
submissions for Nazi leaders are deemed inappropriate to a rite originated out of members’ love for, and desire to perform sacred temple rites for, their ancestral dead.

In part 3 we will consider these claims and wrap it up.
