Censorship News: California’s Desert Rose Elementary School calls police on 7-year-old

This bit of censorship (and secular tyranny gone utterly insane) is multi-faceted. 1. Christianity is under utter assault in the US. 2. Mainstream media is propaganda passed off as news. 3. People complain about the 1% of “conservative” news outlets and yet…

4. Stories such as this one are, as of today, only being reported by Christian and/or conservative news sources so what is a person who is actually interested in such news to do? Then your average person cannot even imagine that points 1 and 2 are true because they never hear about any such thing because they rely on 2 and round and round goes the cycle of ignorance and apathy.

A tax payer funded indoctrination center for re-education aka public school, California’s Desert Rose Elementary School, called the police on a very dangerous 7-year-old who violated one of the secular commandments.

Reports note that since the little boy (oh, can he even be called the restrictive term “boy” in school now-a-days?—can he be called “he”?) had shared notes with his (oh no “his”!) fellow children containing Bible verses, Bible stories, etc. during lunchtime. The notes had been given to him by his parents Christina and Jaime Zavala (What!? Two parents!? A “man” and a “woman”—outrage!!!) so as to comfort him as he was new in school.

The re-education agent aka principal had made it clear that such activities will not be tolerated.

However, the obviously dangerous criminal dared to exercise his freedom of speech and freedom of religious expression by continuing on as if the miseducation Gestapo had not warned him.

desert2brose2belementary2bcalifornia2bcall2bpolice2bbible-3261130

The Liberty Counsel informed the school of the obvious and obviously missed fact that their tyrannical (my term) actions were an “unconstitutional suppression and censorship of student religious speech” which is a “violation of a first grader’s constitutional rights.” They noted that “When one little girl said ‘teacher — this is the most beautiful story I’ve ever seen,’ ‘separation of church and state’ was the response, and the notes were banned from lunchtime distribution. [the little boy] was told that the school gate was the only location at which he could give the Bible verses to his friends, and only after the bell rang.” Reportedly, he gave the Bible related notes to children who asked for them.

Note that no, the answer is not that children are allowed to exercise civil right freedoms within a very narrow parameter. This would mean that children would be allowed to exercise free speech in only 1% of the school or 0% if the school’s gate are consider to be outside of school property. Reportedly, the boy then moved his civil right freedoms activities to the gates until the school decided that this too was to be condemned.

Initially, a representative of the secular state aka teacher called the parents in order to order them to “tell your son that there is a separation of church and state” which proves that the teacher needs some education on the subject.

It was not enough for a little child to undergo the trauma of being treated like a criminal, police conducted a follow-up visit to his home—probably to ensure that his parent’s Bibles were kept out of reach in a locked safe to which the child had no access.

The Liberty Counsel’s Vice President of Legal Affairs and Chief Litigation Counsel, Horatio Mihet noted, “I would expect something like this to happen in Communist Romania, where I went to elementary school, but cops don’t bully 7-year-olds who want to talk about Jesus in the Land of the Free.”

Jewish / Judaism : The Messiah Will Be “The LORD”, part 1 of 3

We will now see that the idea that the Messiah is the LORD originates with Judaism and not with Christianity.

Jeremiah 23:6, as translated by the Jewish Publication Society-1917, reads:

“Behold the days are coming, saith the Lord, that I will raise unto David a righteous shoot, and he shall reign as king and prosper, and shall execute justice and righteousness in the land.

In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely; and this is the name whereby he shall be called, THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.”

From the line of David will come the LORD, not “lord” or “Lord,” not a generic “El,” but the Tetragrammaton. Yes many people have “El,” “Jah” or “Yah” in their names but never, ever, the unpronounced name of HaShem, The Name, The LORD, etc. Astonishing as it is; the infinite-eternal God is prophesied to come through a mere human lineage.

Alfred Edersheim comments thusly regarding Rabbinic application of Jeremiah 23:5-6:

“the Targum has it: ‘And I will raise up for David the Messiah the Just.’This is one of the passages from which according to Rabbinic views, one of the Names of the Messiah is derived, viz: Jehovah our Righteousness.

So in the Talmud (Babba Bathra 75 b), in the Midrash on Ps. xxi. 1, Prov. xix. 21, and in that on Lamentations i. 16.”1

The above referred to Talmud-Baba Bathra 75b reads thusly:

“R. Samuel b. Nahmani said in the name of R. Jonathan: Three were called by the name of the Holy One; blessed be He, and they are the following: The righteous, the Messiah and Jerusalem. [This may be inferred as regards] the righteous [from] what has just been said.
[As regards] the Messiah-it is written: And this is the name whereby he shall be called, The Lord is our righteousness.(1)
[As regards] Jerusalem-it is written: It(2) shall be eighteen thousand reeds round about; and the name of the city from that day shall be ‘the Lord is there.’ (3) Do not read, ‘there’ but ‘its name.'(4)”

Footnotes: (1) Jer. 23:6.
(2) Jerusalem.
(3) Ezek. 48:35.
(4) ‘There,’ Heb. [Hebrew font not available] ‘Its name,’ Heb. [Hebrew font not available] These consonants [Hebrew font not available: shin-mem-heh] are the same. The relevant text is accordingly to be rendered: And as to the name of the city, from that day, ‘The Lord’ shall be its name.

Minor Tractates of the Talmud-Soferim 40b reads:

“Gladden us, O Lord our God,(1) with Elijah the prophet, Thy servant, and with the kingdom of the house of David, Thine anointed.Soon may he come and rejoice our hearts. Suffer not a stranger to sit upon his throne, nor let others any longer inherit his glory; for by Thy holy name Thou didst swear unto him, that his light should not be quenched forever.

In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely; and this is his name whereby he shall be called: the Lord is our righteousness.(2) Blessed art thou, O Lord, Who causest the horn of salvation to flourish from Thy people Israel.(3)”

Footnotes: (1) From ‘with Elijah’ to ‘swear unto him’ is represented in V by ‘etc.’ M and H cite benediction in full.
(2) ‘In his days_righteousness’ is a quotation from Jeremiah 23:6 and is now omitted from the benediction.
(3) The present custom (in accordance with Pes. 117b, Sonc. ed., p. 603) is to conclude, ‘Blessed art Thou, O Lord, the shield of David’

Midrash on Psalm 21 states:

“This is the Messiah, the Son of David, who has been hidden until the last days. Rabbi Tanhuma says, ‘The Messiah-King will come only to give the world six commandments, such as the Feast of Tabernacles, (the use of) the palm fronds, and the phylacteries, but all Israel will learn the Torah_and why so?Because the Gentiles will seek him.'” [After this the Midrash asks] “Who is this king?_God will not crown a king of flesh and blood, but the Holy One-may he be praised-will give his own crown to the Messiah-King, because it is said of him, ‘You placed a crown of pure gold on his head.’

God will not dress an earthly king in his own purple robe, rather he has given it to the Messiah-King, for it is said, ‘You have bestowed on him splendor and majesty’_And he will call the Messiah-King by name, for it is said, ‘This is the name by which he will be known: The LORD our Righteousness.'”

Jewish / Judaism : Does Christianity Corrupt the Old Testament? And: On the Memra, part 1 of 5

In this parsed essay we will present some example of the charges of corruption made against Christianity and some examples of the Rabbinic manner of interpretation.

Part 1: The Charges (and the problems for those making them)Part 2: The Targumim

Part 3: Targum Yerushalmi or Jerusalem and Targum Onkelos or Onqelos and Targum Jonathan or Pseudo-Jonathan

Part 4: Fragmentary Targum and Targum Neofiti and Examples of Rabbinic Interpretation
Part 5: Examples of Rabbinic Interpretation (continued and concluded)

There is an odd contradiction when it comes to the Christian claim that quite often there is support for Christian theology in ancient Rabbinic writing. One the one hand, when the ancient interpretation of the Old Testament-the Tanakh-as found in the Rabbinic writings is appealed to; the anti-missionaries charge that we do not understand those writings due to the various methods of interpretation employed by the ancient sages. On the other hand, when anti-missionaries read the New Testament they claim that its writers are taking the Old Testament out of context or even claiming that certain texts are treated as prophecy when in reality they are not.

The contradiction is that when considering the New Testament use of the Old Testament it is the anti-missionaries who do not consider the various ancient methods of interpretation that, quite naturally, the writers of the New Testament would have employed.

The Charges (and the problems for those making them):
A common charge made by anti-missionaries is that Christians have tampered with the Old Testament in order to force it to agree with Christian doctrine.

Rabbi Aryeh Kaplan charges,

“In many cases, they were not above using verses out of context, changing texts, and even mistranslating them, in order to prove their point.”1

This is quite a charge to make however, in the chapter of his anti-missionary book in which Rabbi Kaplan discusses Jesus he does just what he accuses Christians of doing. He offers incorrect citations, he makes utterly false claims as he removes texts from context to make pretexts for prooftexts and in his anti-missionary zeal; he comes to very odd and false conclusions. Here is one example,

“In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus instructed his followers (Matthew 5:43) ‘Love your enemies, bless those who curse you, and do good to those who hate you.’ This might have been a fine lesson if Jesus himself lived up to it. But when it came to his own enemies, Jesus declared (Luke 19:27), ‘Take my enemies, who would not have me rule over them, bring them here, and kill them before me.'”2

jewishjudaismmessianicjudaismmessiahjesustorahtanakhbible-4986022

One need not know too much about Jesus to know that this is dead wrong. But is it wrong? Did Jesus not say that?Yes and no.

The Rabbi did not care to point out that the text he is quoting states, “While they were listening to this, He [Jesus] went on to tell them a parable.” Jesus was telling a parable, and there is a character in the parable that says those words. Yes He said that, but they were not His words.

Moreover, Rabbi Kaplan himself is not above inserting words into the Old Testament. He does so in his quoting of Isaiah 2:2-4, this type of practice, if done by Christians, is considered by him to be a corruption of Scripture. He quotes,

“_Come let us go up to the mountain of G-d to the house of the G-d of Jacob and He (the Messiah) will teach us His ways_And He (the Messiah) will judge between nations_”3

While this may seem like no big change the point is a basic one; when the Rabbi wants the text to say Messiah he simply inserts the word.

And Rabbi Kaplan concludes,

“The main things is that a clear reading of the Jewish Bible offers absolutely no support to the ‘proofs’ of Christianity. In most cases, all you need is a good translation (or better still, the Hebrew original), and all those ‘proofs’ fall away. Many contemporary Christian scholars admit as much.”4

This is clearly fallacious as Christian scholars most certainly do not admit that all proofs that make Christianity what it is are null and void.

Larry Levey, a self-described “Former Hebrew-Christian,” charges,

“Those Christians who desperately ransacked the Talmud to find support for their preconceived ideas are not students of the Talmud with any interest in the actual teachings of Rabbinic Judaism. They merely use the Talmud like a drunk uses a lamp post – not for illumination, but for support.”5

Interestingly, in Larry Levey’s article of less than one page he does exactly what he speaks out against. In his short article he makes reference to 26 New Testament texts; he does not do so with any interest in the actual teachings of Jesus and His Apostles but he desperately ransacks New Testament to find support for his preconceived ideas and is merely using the New Testament like a drunk uses a lamp post.

Rabbi Shraga Simmons,

“The missionaries’ approach to ensnare unsuspecting people includes quoting Torah verses out of context and gross mis-translations_These deceptions are most successful with Jews who have no knowledge of their own Jewish heritage.”6

Rabbi Simmons also states,

“Biblical verses ‘referring’ to Jesus are mistranslations_.Biblical verses can only be understood by studying the original Hebrew text-which reveals many discrepancies in the Christian translation.”7

This is called elitism; the Rabbi has knowledge of Hebrew and therefore you cannot hope to challenge him. However, this would mean that a large percentage of Jewish people the world over cannot know the Bible since they do not know Hebrew.
But then again, of course they can, they rely on the Rabbi. But in that case why cannot Christians rely on Christian scholars who are Hebrew experts? Being bilingual I can tell you this much; translation can be difficult and translation is possible.
