Live after death – from near death experiences to being dead experiences

It is being reported:

Scientists at the University of Southampton studied more than 2,000 people who suffered cardiac arrests at 15 hospitals across Britain, Austria and the United States. Around 40% of patients who survived described “awareness” during the time before their hearts were restarted, when they were clinically dead…

For the study, the scientists examined 2,060 cardiac arrest patients. Of the 330 that survived, 140 said they had experienced some kind of awareness while being resuscitated.

One in five said they felt a sense of peacefulness. Some said they saw a bright light and felt time had sped up or slowed down, while others described the feeling as drowning or being submerged in deep water.

Dr Sam Parnia, who led the study, told the Daily Telegraph: “We know the brain can’t function when the heart has stopped beating. But in this case, conscious awareness appears to have continued for up to three minutes into the period when the heart wasn’t beating, even though the brain typically shuts down within 20 to 30 seconds after the heart has stopped”…

Parnia is the principal investigator of the Aware study (Awareness during Resuscitation), which was launched in 2008 to examine near-death experiences during cardiac arrest with methods aimed at measuring the quality of oxygen delivered to the brain.

The issue will be that those sold out to a materialistic and naturalistic Atheist-like worldview will simply say, “We used to think that the brain can’t function when the heart has stopped beating but now we know that it can.”

Interestingly, “Parnia suggested more people may have similar experiences when close to death, but medication used in resuscitation may prevent them from remembering.” When I had knee surgery I was offered Versed which, I was told, was for thus and such and, oh, “helps you forget.” What? Firstly, I do not want to be naked in a room with perfect strangers who gave me a drug to helps me forget. Secondly, I got enough problems with my memory and do not need any more…uhm…the…and…with…’cause…wait, what was I writing about?

It was elucidated that it helps people deal with the stress of being nervous about the operation, etc. To which I replied that I was perfectly calm and ready to go. Fine then…but they offered to me two more times after that including when I was actually laying down ready to be put out. The statement was that they think I really should take it but I refused AGAIN!

So, it is interesting to learn that such drugs can actually make one forget near death experiences (NDE). I suppose that I had a form of NDE; a nearly drugged experience.

“Estimates have suggested that millions of people have had vivid experiences in relation to death but the scientific evidence has been ambiguous at best. Many people have assumed that these were hallucinations or illusions but they do seem to have corresponded to actual events.”

“And a higher proportion of people may have vivid death experiences, but do not recall them due to the effects of brain injury or sedative drugs on memory circuits,” Parnia said, adding that further research was needed.

Overall, we should learn something about ourselves via the metaphor of a computer. For example, the material brain is like the hardware and the immaterial mind is like the software. If you destroy a computer it does not mean that software does not exist but only mean that it cannot express itself via that material hardware any longer. It is even possible to retrieve the software and place it within another material hardware and this is what in theology is known as resurrection.

Michael Licona – new book: “The Resurrection of Jesus: A New Historiographical Approach”

Michael Licona has published a new book on Jesus’ the resurrection of Jesus titled, “The Resurrection of Jesus – A New Historiographical Approach.”

Here are the editorial reviews from Amazon.com

Review “With impressive erudition, Licona marshals all possible evidence of Jesus’ resurrection and considers its significance in a careful, methodical way. He then compares several alternative explanations of the disciples’ faith in the resurrection, judging them according to important criteria, and concludes that Jesus’ bodily resurrection provides the best explanation of their conviction, and so is worthy of belief.

This is an astonishing achievement and a major contribution to the ongoing debate. It is clearly written and full of fresh insights and arguments that will enrich discussion for years to come.”

Product Description The question of the historicity of Jesus’ resurrection has been repeatedly probed, investigated and debated. And the results have varied widely. Perhaps some now regard this issue as the burned-over district of New Testament scholarship. Could there be any new and promising approach to this problem? Yes, answers Michael Licona. And he convincingly points us to a significant deficiency in approaching this question: our historiographical orientation and practice. So he opens this study with an extensive consideration of historiography and the particular problem of investigating claims of miracles. This alone is a valuable contribution. But then Licona carefully applies his principles and methods to the question of Jesus’ resurrection. In addition to determining and working from the most reliable sources and bedrock historical evidence, Licona critically weighs other prominent hypotheses.

His own argument is a challenging and closely argued case for the historicity of the resurrection of Jesus, the Christ. Any future approaches to dealing with this “prize puzzle” of New Testament study will need to be routed through The Resurrection of Jesus.

Richard Shaver and the best Deros story ever

Richard Sharpe Shaver (1907-1975 AD) was a writer and artist who wrote A Warning to Future Man wherein he references technologically advanced prehistoric races. These races built underground cities and, eventually, they left Earth to colonize another planet since the Sun’s radiation was overwhelming.

However, they left some of their offspring on Earth and these slip into two species. The Teros are the ancestors of humans likely named as a reference Earth as Terra.
The others are called Deros which is in reference to detrimental robots.
These are not machines (not cyborgs, androids or robots of any sort) but are referred to as such due to their inhumane natures as they tormented the Teros.

According to Richard Shaver, Deros are still extant within their underground cities. They routinely kidnap Teros to use as a food source and also for good ol’ torture. They developed rays that they use for the purposes of surveillance as well as to beam thoughts into people’s minds.

Richard Shaver seems to have been reading H. G. Wells’ 1895 AD novel, The Time Machine with the two species that branched off from one original one, the Eloi and Morlocks (these being underground dwellers).

Yet, there is an L. Ron Hubbard’s Scientology element as Shaver claims to be writing actual history (read up on Hubbard’s claims here).

Deros also caused all sorts of mischief from “minor ‘accidental’ injuries or illnesses to airplane crashes and catastrophic natural disasters. Women especially were singled out for brutal treatment, including rape, and Mike Dash notes that ‘[s]ado-masochism was one of the prominent themes of Shaver’s writings’” (see Dash’s Borderlands: The Ultimate Exploration of the Unknown).

In Secret Cipher of the UFOnauts, the occult magick practitioner Allen H. Greenfield relates the following from his June 24, 1994 AD interview with Terry R. Wriste:
TERRY R. WRISTE: …You know how I got into this stuff. It was the Shaver thing and –

ALLEN H. GREENFIELD: O.K. So, let’s take this from there. You met Dick Shaver in?

TERRY R. WRISTE: That’d be 1961 or ‘62. Anyhow, Ray Palmer was then reprinting a lot of the Shaver stuff from the 1940s, about the hidden world, which Shaver claimed was the survival of an antediluvian civilization that had moved inside the Earth, while Palmer and others thought this was more esoteric, something fourth dimensional or whatever.

ALLEN H. GREENFIELD: I thought it was charming mythology, kind of the “demons” of the Shadow Mind vs. the Self in Jungian terms. NICAP told me it was all bunk, so, naturally, I wrote the guy.

TERRY R. WRISTE: Anyhow, Dick got into trouble with the law, skipped Wisconsin and went into hiding. Oddly, it was during that lost period when you were the only one publishing new stuff by him, that I got his address and got involved with the little group of dedicated guerrillas who had decided, in a most unmetaphysical way, to take the best weaponry they could “into the caves” as Shaver would have it, and blow the mind controlling bastards up. Dick had given several previous groups directions, and they had gone. Mostly [they] didn’t come back, but a few did, and I met a few, including one World War Two vet who had been with a team that entered a so-called “cave” located, and get this, near Dulce, New Mexico, under the Archuleta Mesa.

Ken’s note: okay, now we are getting somewhere as this will no longer be merely about claims and fancy tales but real evidence.

ALLEN H. GREENFIELD: Isn’t that now said to be a joint Gray Alien-Human base?

TERRY R. WRISTE: You bet. I doubt there was anything there of the sort in 1948, though, and this guy and his team went through a door, and down what seemed to be an old –VERY old elevator shaft, into a city beneath the Earth, found the Dero – this is what I was told – blew up some machinery, got Rayed and mostly zombied, killed a few DEROtypes, and retreated back the way they came in. It was surprise that probably saved their asses, the few that came back.

Ken’s note: Oh no, another mere story! But wait, there’s more!

ALLEN H. GREENFIELD: Did you believe the story?

TERRY R. WRISTE: ‘Course not. But, I figured, this could be an artifact of something real, and Shaver gave us a couple of locations right here in the South that, he said, were entrances to the caves.

ALLEN H. GREENFIELD: Right. I investigated both. One was Brown Mountain, North Carolina, and I found plenty of UFO witnesses there, including this guy, Ralph something, that claimed he had been inside the mountain, and whisked off from there to outer space. Quite a yarn.

I went there with Gene and Geneva Steinberg once, and with Jim Moseley and his daughter Betty and Tim Beckley, on Christmas Eve, in 1968 as I recall. The other entrance dates back into Cherokee Indian legend of the entrance to Fairyland, Magonia, or whatever-you-call-it. It was the home of the Yum-Wee-Chum-Dee, the Little Men, and was near Tallulah Falls in North Georgia. I searched for years for that entrance. Up where Deliverance was filmed.

TERRY R. WRISTE: …Remember those rocks he sent you with the pictures in them?

ALLEN H. GREENFIELD: Sure. They did contain interesting images; they seemed, as I said at the time, like holograms, especially when sectioned and made into 35mm slides. Shaver claimed they were the Record of the antediluvian civilization on Earth, literally preserved in stone. I gave them to you, I recall.

TERRY R. WRISTE: When I got ahold of them, I resectioned the rocks, used an overhead projector and came up, in one of them, with a map of that little area of North Georgia where Tallulah Falls, Toccoa Falls, Brasstown Bald—you know, the Chattahoochee National Forest. The cave entrance is clearly marked.

ALLEN H. GREENFIELD: That’s [southern North Carolina, and White County, Georgia area] where Peter Davidson, the Frontal Chief of the Hermetic Brotherhood of Light, set up his utopian colony a hundred years ago….So, you and a groap of paramilitary types sought out the marked entrance and found it Then what?

TERRY R. WRISTE: A door opened, we went in. We were a lot better armed than the guys in the ‘40s. An odd lot. Recent ‘Nam vets, fugitives from R.Y.M. [“an armed militant wing of the anti-Viet Nam War movement”]…And one guy, the only black guy with us, who was then in the Black Panther Party.

Ken’s note: and here comes that which makes this the best Deros story ever—or not!

TERRY R. WRISTE: Ten, in all, plus a photographer who chickened out at that point. He saw the entrance and left.

Ken’s note: sooooooooo, the only guy who could have provided anything besides yet another tall tale “chickened out” and so all we are left with, yet again, is another mere story. But there were ten people there: how about some names Wriste? We could interview all of them and see how the tales match, but alas.

Well, for the sake of it, here is the tale that was told.

ALLEN H. GREENFIELD: So you go in. Then what?

TERRY R. WRISTE: Practically a replay from the WWII thing. No elevator shaft, but a long downward slope. It got real cold. I still figured that Shaver had been there, that this was some old mining deal right up until I heard the hum.

ALLEN H. GREENFIELD: Machines? “Mechs,” as Shaver called them?

TERRY R. WRISTE: Exactly, and, I gather, we were expected. By then we were in a kind of cavern, only, I’d say, artificially hollowed out and illuminated by a greenish glow, defuse; not from a single, identifiable source. Anyhow, the whole area resembled Shaver’s less exotic subterranean story descriptions, and, in more recent terms, some of the modern alien base stories.

We were confronted by these small, grayish beings—humanoid only in the technical sense—and one of our guys said “Dero!” and started shooting. He had an M-1 rifle, if I recall. One shot, and [the little gray being] was illuminated in blue, and just gone. Then there was a sound, and I felt my own gun, an M-16, get unbearably hot I dropped it, turned to run, and was confronted by two of these little gray-skinned guys with a net.

Whatever had convinced me my rifle was hot had apparently not focused on my pistol, a vintage Luger, and one of the little net-holders received the last surprise of its life. It kind of exploded, and the other one dropped the net and ran, up the slope, with me suddenly in pursuit. When we got beyond the lighted area, though, it was just gone. I heard gun fire and explosions behind me, and that god-awful hum, and I continued, pistol in hand, looking around wildly, to go back the way I came.

Only three of us ever made it back to the surface. One of them died a year or so later, of leukemia, I think. He was only about 24-25, so maybe there’s a connection.

Ken’s note: …and then, there were two; Wriste and some unnamed person. You would figure that if 10 people go spelunking for Deros, one runs away, 6 are killed, etc. one of them would say, “Hey, maybe we should report 6 corpses,” you know, tell the families, the cops, etc.

ALLEN H. GREENFIELD: What about the other guy?

TERRY R. WRISTE: Still alive, as far as I know. He has been back twice since; once alone at another entrance not given by Shaver, but traced from legend. The other with a group similar to my own, all of which returned alive, and is now linked with several Cavern guerrilla groups.

Ken’s note: so there is another group of men who could tell the tale…and could have actual evidence.

ALLEN H. GREENFIELD: Why haven’t you gone back since?

TERRY R. WRISTE: For the next year, I was really pretty messed up emotionally. I tried to dissuade you, you’ll recall, from one of your expeditions in search of that same entrance. I kept the “Map Stone” for years, but by then had gotten completely deflected into radical political activity, both here and abroad.

I thought I was satisfied for a long time that this was a physical cave, that Shaver had been correct—and the metaphysical stuff had nothing to do with it. And we were, I thought, hopelessly outclassed technologically.

I’ve realized that Faerie is neither physical nor metaphysical because I’ve—in the last five years, I’ve seen too many experiments of an occult nature where the same beings have been conjured up and dealt with in a variety of ways. So, this stuff seems on the border of the physical and metaphysical realms, and I’m not sure, to borrow a phrase, that a truly advanced technology could be distinguished from magick.

ALLEN H. GREENFIELD: So after our political association, you dropped out of sight, and were, what, studying magick?

TERRY R. WRISTE: Until you came up with this cipher stuff: I was mainly concentrating on the abduction cases, to see if I could actively intercept and intervene. When you turned me on to the cipher stuff: I applied it to the West Virginia cases, and went out and met Indrid Cold.

ALLEN H. GREENFIELD: That’s the being that Woodrow Derenberger encountered in ‘66 in West Virginia.

Ken’s note: this is in reference to the “Mothman” case; see John A. Keel’s The Mothman Prophecies.

TERRY R. WRISTE: …I was intrigued by Cold’s statement to Woody that he “comes from a country weaker than yours” which is not so much cipher as simple metaphor for being a native of one of the worlds already conquered by the Grays and their allies. I figured he was a fugitive, and probably looking for contact with others in the know, so he probably lived fairly near the contact point, as a fugitive from the Grays.

Ken’s note: as it turns out, via a cipher, Wriste figured out Indrid Cold’s home address.

TERRY R. WRISTE: In part; I am going to protect him as much as I can; although he is neither blond nor androgynous, he is what the current UFOlogy jargon calls a “Blond” and he does indeed come from the Procyon System. Like me, he’s been an outlaw all his life.

Ken’s note: well, this just get strangerer and strangerer as we find out just how Wriste found, and will not divulge, the whereabouts of a good ol’ alien.

TERRY R. WRISTE: In any case, just from the number 112 [which he got with the original cypher], a number he gave an unknowing Woodrow Derenberger on a stretch of interstate, taking the context and using The Book of

the Law for the deciphering purposes Aiwass and the Third Order intended, I discovered clues in the very fragmentary phrases you regard as “noise” rather than “signal.”

112 = WE ARE ONE, the code phrase that tells you you’re in important territory, but also THY WIFE and LETTER and WORDS AND SIGNS and INK AND BLACK and ALL HOUSE OF GOD and THE WHEEL and I AM 49 PLACE and, as you noted CROSS 52 I FLAP.

Ken’s note: well, we are now into Aleister Crowley as the referenced Book of the Law (about which I wrote) which was channeled from someone or thing called Aiwass.

Well, yatta, yatta, yatta, Wriste claims to have come upon…

…[a] little ramshackle house with words and signs allover it about colds and stars and the like.

ALLEN H. GREENFIELD: So you just walked up to the door?

TERRY R. WRISTE: A guy, with one big difference from the descriptions, walks up, like he had been waiting; I didn’t knock, and I said, “Mr. Cold, I presume?” He smiled and said, “My friends call me Indrid.”

ALLEN H. GREENFIELD: Let me guess, he was a black guy. The Blonds can be black.

TERRY R. WRISTE: The Blonds is a conceit started by Adamski and Ric Williamson. They have the same racial features and range we do, and can project features at will, as Cold did for Derenberger, in the interest of security. Ric Williamson, I guess, believed all that Nordic-Aryan race crap from the Nazis…

We had a long talk, and he and his little group are really isolated fugitives. Their messages were primarily a distress signal, but to this date none of their own have shown up, and they continue to lay low. The story Cold told me is the basic one you hear, how much I believe I don’t know, but they speak of being overrun by the Grays and other more serious Deep Aliens working for the Negatives.

The most unusual point was his claim that they had been invited to take refuge on Earth by the Third Order—humans and posthumans who are advanced enough to qualify as Earth’s representatives in space-based governments. But Indrid Cold, or whoever he is, hasn’t heard from the Third Order, either. I think he may have moved on, but I will continue to conceal some details until I know he is safe, as I promised.

So, in the end, we have more esoteric un-evidenced stories upon more esoteric un-evidenced stories upon more esoteric un-evidenced stories. Great sci-fi but that seems to be about it…except that, as is the case with L. Ron Hubbard, people take it seriously to whatever degree.

Did Jesus teach the serpent seed of Satan theory in Matthew 23?

This article represents an ongoing study into the serpent seed of Satan theory which asserts that the original sin within the Garden of Eden was that Eve had sex with Satan making Cain the literal son of Satan and Cain’s bloodline/seedline carriers of Satanic genetics.

Yet, these are a portion of a much fuller consideration of the topic which covers everything from the text of Genesis 3 to apocrypha and from grammatical context to the KKK and other Aryan white supremacy groups—see Serpent Seed.

In the case of Matthew 23, serpent seed of Satan theorists seem to, un-contextually of course, appeal to the fact that it references “child of hell” as being “serpents…generation of vipers” who “kill and crucify…scourge…and persecute…prophets, and wise men, and scribes.”

However, as with any and every text to which they appeal; the issue is not genetics but actions (sinful actions) or lack of action (good works). Let us glean from this chapter in order to elucidate this fact (emphasis added for emphasis):

Then spake Jesus to the multitude, and to his disciples, saying The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat: All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do; but do not ye after their works [actions]: for they say, and do not [hypocrisy]. For they bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and lay them on men’s shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers [lack of good works].

But all their works [actions] they do for to be seen of men: they make broad their phylacteries, and enlarge the borders of their garments, and love the uppermost rooms at feasts [seeking honor], and the chief seats in the synagogues [seeking honor], and greetings in the markets, and to be called of men, Rabbi, Rabbi [seeking honor].

But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ; and all ye are brethren. And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven. Neither be ye called masters: for one is your Master, even Christ.

But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant. And whosoever shall exalt himself [they did not serve but exalted themselves] shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.
But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites [hypocritical actions]! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in [action as hinderers].

Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows’ houses [action of taking rather than giving], and for a pretence make long prayer [action of showing off]: therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation.

Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves [clearly, they are not changing peoples’ genetics].

Woe unto you, ye blind guides [they presume to guide but are blind], which say, Whosoever shall swear by the temple, it is nothing; but whosoever shall swear by the gold of the temple, he is a debtor! Ye fools and blind: for whether is greater, the gold, or the temple that sanctifieth the gold? And, Whosoever shall swear by the altar, it is nothing; but whosoever sweareth by the gift that is upon it, he is guilty.
Ye fools and blind [they are fooling]: for whether is greater, the gift, or the altar that sanctifieth the gift?
Whoso therefore shall swear by the altar, sweareth by it, and by all things thereon. And whoso shall swear by the temple, sweareth by it, and by him that dwelleth therein. And he that shall swear by heaven, sweareth by the throne of God, and by him that sitteth thereon.

Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law [action towards fulfilling small matters only], judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone. Ye blind guides, which strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel.

Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess. Thou blind Pharisee, cleanse first that which is within the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be clean also.

Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men’s bones, and of all uncleanness. Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity [hypocritical actions make them appear to be that which they are not].

Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because ye build the tombs of the prophets, and garnish the sepulchres of the righteous, and say, If we had been in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets.

Wherefore ye be witnesses unto yourselves, that ye are the children of them which killed the prophets. Fill ye up then the measure of your fathers [their fathers were not said to have had Satanic genetics but were they who killed the prophets].

Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers [thus, this has nothing to do genetics], how can ye escape the damnation of hell?

Wherefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: and some of them ye shall kill and crucify; and some of them shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to city: That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel unto the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom ye slew between the temple and the altar.

Verily I say unto you, All these things shall come upon this generation.

O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!

Behold, your house is left unto you desolate. For I say unto you, Ye shall not see me henceforth, till ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.

Clearly, particularly as elucidated by the last statement of the text, those will supposed Satanic genetics can be saved, are redeemable, if they repent. This does not prove that those will supposed Satanic genetics can be saved but that 100% humans who are hypocrites and guilty of sin can be saved.

How Many Days Was Jesus in the Tomb?

If I did not believe in spiritual warfare considering such question as “How many days was Jesus in the tomb?” would convince me.

This is because such questions are indicative of the veil that hangs over the eyes and minds of unbelievers. That the Bible is read, considered, dissected like no other written text surely says something about the continuing warfare.

Let us begin with Matthew 12:39-40 in considering what the Bible reports as to how much time Jesus spent in the tomb, as Jesus states:

An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, and no sign will be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah. For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

This is of the utmost importance since Jonah was in the belly of the great fish for three days and three nights Jesus would be entombed for as long.

jonahandbible-9750974

Commonly speaking:How long is a day?12 hours.How long is a night?12 hours.

Thus, three days and three nights equal 72 hours.

It is very important when considering any text to take a moment to envisage exactly what is being communicated, how it works in the real world, what it looks like.

Let us momentarily employ the calendar that reckons 24 hour periods that begin and end at midnight since this is common.

What does it mean that Jonah was in the belly of the great fish for three days and three nights?

At 11:59:56 PM Jonah is standing at the edge of the boat.

At 11:59:57 PM Jonah is falling towards the sea.

At t 11:59:58 PM Jonah falls into the mouth of the great fish.

At t 11:59:59 PM Jonah is swallowed.

And precisely at 12:00:00 AM Jonah reaches the belly.

Then he is there until the next midnight-one day and night.

He is there until the midnight after that-two days and nights.

Then he is there until_:

At 11:59:56 PM the great fish beaches itself (assuming it came inland that far).

At 11:59:57 PM the great fish begins to regurgitate Jonah.

At t 11:59:58 PM the great fish opens its mouth.

At t 11:59:59 PM great fish proceeds to vomit Jonah.

And precisely at 12:00:00 Jonah hits the sand.

Thus, only in this way could it be claimed that Jonah was in the belly of the great fish for three days and three nights-right?!?!

Who thinks this way? Who, but someone desperate to find fuel for the fires of their unbelief, could even imagine placing such restrictions upon any language?

Let us slow down because it may seem ridiculous but perhaps they have a point or two:

What does this say about biblical literalism?

Nothing.

To take something literally mean that we take it as it is intended: a historical reference is taken as such, symbolism is taken as such, proverbs are taken as such, poetic language as such, straightforward saying as such, etc.

How do we know how it is to be taken?

Primarily, and as exampled by the midnight to midnight example, in a common sense manner. This is tantamount to someone saying “Ok, let’s go-on the count of three_” and you say, “Wait, wait! Do you mean: one, two and go on three or: one, two, three and then go?” I have actually heard this, somewhat jokingly, at softball games when the winning team meets at home plate to declare their victory by shouting the team name “on the count of three.”

Moreover, if need be, we could point out that flexibility is not only common sense but is biblical:

And they encamped opposite each other for seven days. So it was that on the seventh day the battle was joined (1st Kings 20:29).

Was it “for” seven days on “on the” seventh?Contradiction! No.

Merely common language and common sense.

So he said to them, “Come back to me after three days.” And the people departed_
So Jeroboam and all the people came to Rehoboam on the third day (2nd Chronicles 10:5, 12).

Was it “after” three days on “on the” third?Contradiction! No.

Merely common language and common sense.

Go, gather all the Jews who are present in Shushan, and fast for me; neither eat nor drink for three days, night or day_
Now it happened on the third day that Esther put on her royal robes and stood in the inner court of the king’s palace (Esther 4:16; 5:1).

Was it “for” three days on “on the” third?Contradiction! No.

Merely common language and common sense.

Now, what did Jesus say about His time in the tomb?

As we saw above, He said, three days and three nights.

Yet, He also said,

“Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up”_
But He was speaking of the temple of His body (John 2:19, 21).

Also,

The Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of men, and they will kill Him. And after He is killed, He will rise the third day (Mark 9:31).

Was it “in” three days on “the” third?Contradiction! No.

Merely common language and common sense.

Thus, we can describe how long Jesus was entombed in three ways:

Friday, Saturday, Sunday

6th day, 7th day, 1st day

14th, 15th, 16th of the Jewish month Nisan

In referencing the 6th day, 7th day, 1st day of the week we are referring to a system which reckons days as beginning and ending at sundown.

Therefore:

Friday before sundown was the 6th day of the week, the 14th of Nisan.

Friday sundown until Saturday sundown was the 7th day of the week, the 15th of Nisan.

Saturday sundown until Sunday sundown was the 1st day of the week, the 16th of Nisan.

As we have seen “in,” “the,” “for,” “on the,” “after,” is irrelevant to common language and common sense.

He was entombed three days.

Jesus did not have to be in the tomb starring at his watch and thinking “Come on sundown!”

The Bible is expected to present a scenario in which in the course of normal human events actions are to be performed to the nano-second. When this happens the Bible is being asked to present humanity in unrealistic terms and requirements are being placed upon it to which no ancient or modern text are expected to adhere-nor should they be supposed to adhere.

The question as to how many days Jesus was in the tomb is turned into a big issue when some seeks to find problems where there are none and when they tell themselves that the Bible has failed on some point and yet, in the end they only end up discrediting themselves whilst leaving the Bible unscathed.

MIT’s Jeremy L. England on all by itself-replication

Jeremy L. England works in the Department of Physics, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Before potentially scaring people by daring to imagine questioning Darwinism (random chance forbid!), note that England stated:

I am certainly not saying that Darwinian ideas are wrong.

Well, now I can sleep at night. He followed with:

On the contrary, I am just saying that from the perspective of the physics, you might call Darwinian evolution a special case of a more general phenomenon.

His paper Statistical physics of self-replication (published online 21 August 2013 AD) and the online response to it demonstrates just how philosophical scientists are. Note the reference to ideas (as in those which combine to form worldviews; such as Darwinian evolution which is a philosophical worldview versus biology which is a science).

Mara Prentiss, a professor of physics at Harvard:

I think he has a fabulous idea. Right or wrong.

Attila Szabo, a biophysicist in the Laboratory of Chemical Physics at the National Institutes of Health

Jeremy is just about the brightest young scientist I ever came across. I was struck by the originality of the ideas.

Eugene Shakhnovich, a professor of chemistry, chemical biology and biophysics at Harvard University

Jeremy’s ideas are interesting and potentially promising…

But Shakhnovich adds a “but”:

… but at this point are extremely speculative, especially as applied to life phenomena.

Thus, great idea! But extremely speculative, especially as applied to the very point of the issue at hand—thus far.

Quanta Magazine:

England’s theoretical results are generally considered valid. It is his interpretation — that his formula represents the driving force behind a class of phenomena in nature that includes life — that remains unproven.

Carl Franck, a biological physicist at Cornell University

He is making me think that the distinction between living and nonliving matter is not sharp. I’m particularly impressed by this notion when one considers systems as small as chemical circuits involving a few biomolecules.

Do you discern the philosophy? His ideas are making people think and rethink and they can they begin interpreting evidence in accordance to a slightly modified Darwinian worldview philosophy.

The bottom line point seems to be that Jeremy L. England is yet another of so very many potentially brilliant scientists who will throw their careers away due to choosing to not do science but rather, abuse science by using it a as a tool to disprove God.

England stated the following:

You start with a random clump of atoms, and if you shine light on it for long enough, it should not be so surprising that you get a plant.

It is certainly not a difficult experiment to 1) start with a random clump of atoms, 2) shine light on it for long enough (whatever that means) and 3) see whether a plant results.

He does not seem to consider that a plant is the result of programming so that if he does not begin with the right atoms, he can shine a light on the atoms until a cow results and comes home but he will not get a plant.

And to see just how brilliant his ideas, and methodology, are, note what England writes this within Statistical physics of self-replication:

In order to do so, we first suppose there is some coarse-grained, observable condition I in the system, such as the criterion “The system contains precisely one healthy, exponential-growth-phase bacterium at the start of a round of cell division.”

Do you see how the cards are stacked? “first,” as in beginning with (“at the start”) we “suppose” guess, assert, presuppose, etc. that “there is” as in assuming to already exist (“at the start”), “one healthy, exponential-growth-phase bacterium at the start of a round of cell division” a fully functioning organism with all necessarily required information driven functions in already in place.

In other words, if you assume that in some unknown, unobserved, unexplained, un-reproducibly experimented upon—believed by pure “faith”—the existence of a bacteria that contains cells that can divide then, by golly, it can already divide and will keep dividing.

Note that he has other suppositions, “Suppose now that we let some time interval…Thus, let us suppose there is a simple selfreplicator living at inverse temperature.”

He also employs a set of other assumptions:

…we assume that a decay event mediated…

It is reasonable to assume that the reverse of this reaction…

…we can also assume in this case that the change in internal entropy…

We can assume furthermore that the cell is in exponential growth phase at the beginning of its division cycle…

as we have assumed this cell is growing processively…

we assume a cell division time of 20 min…

On and on it goes. If we guess at many key points then we can actually begin with a conclusion and conclude that, by golly, we were right!

Thank Darwinism that we have such brilliant minds that can explain to us that if we start with self-replication we end up with self-replication.
