Root and Bennett attended the same high school and met up when Root replied to a Facebook message to a “couple of depressed people.”
They meet up at a park, Bennett hit Root with a stick, Dowell choked her to the ground and stuck a syringe into her neck, stabbed her, both of them stripped her, when Root managed to stand, Dowell stabbed her again and cut her throat.
