Ancient giant skeleton found in Iran

News of finds at an archeological dig in the Iranian province of Lorestan is an excellent example of that which I have been emphasizing for some time: the term “giant” merely means taller than the average. Additionally, I have been emphasizing that some people who base their “ministries,” books, lectures, websites, etc. on reporting on giants make much ado about nothing since nothing is just about all they have to report.

I decided to focus on Paul Seaburn’s article, “Skeleton of an Ancient Giant Found in Iran,” Mysterious Universe, February 15, 2017 AD. I did so because it present a mix and match of facts and speculations the likes of which I noted above.

We are told that from Chief archaeologist Ata Hasanpour, of the Islamic Azad University in Tehrān, “News of giant skeletons in Iran…a being much larger than humans living around 500 CE was found among artifacts” which means that this is “an exciting discovery even without the giant.”

Here is the locus of focus as a “skeleton measured over two meters (6 feet 6 inches) in height” and an astute observation by Seaburn, “making him a tall man today but a giant among his peers who averaged 160 cm (5 feet 3 inches).” Indeed, 6.6 is tall, taller than the average then and today but is not a “giant” of fanciful mythology.

We are also told that there is “no indication that the giant was treated with fear or respect when alive or in death” and that it “doesn’t sound like they thought he might be a biblical Nephilim.” Of course, why would they when the Nephilim when the Nephilim all drowned in the flood? Of which we have no indication that they were taller than the average much less much taller than the average. Also, if they were much taller than the average (as in mythical proportions) why would they think that a guy who is only about a foot taller than average is a Nephilim.

But then again, why rely on chronology—such as that the Nephilim drowned—when one can make statements such as:

Was this giant one of the rumored giants kept in suspended animation in stasis chambers for thousands of years – possibly using alien technology or even being members of an alien race themselves – to be reanimated at some pre-designated time or in the event of an emergency that causes someone to break the glass…

Seaburn concludes with noting that this tall person, “is probably just from a very tall man.” And his statement, “Whether its giants are mythical in stature or real in power” rightly goes to show a further point about the flexible nature of the term “giant.”

Seaburn’s article contains a collage of photos which, if they are from the actual site, show what one would expect from an unremarkable find—“unremarkable” in terms of, like, gigantic-Nephilim-alien-high tech-stasis chambers and stuff. In fact, from the tools in the background of the photo showing the skull we can see that it is of normal size (if that is even the skull in question as other, smaller, skeletons were found as well).

But what is all of this stuff about “rumored giants kept in suspended animation in stasis chambers”? Well, as noted it is a nifty manner whereby to get around actual chronology. Also, it is based on claims and actually videos that have been circulating on the internet since circa 2008 AD.
One is titled, “В Иране найдена гробница возрстом 12 000 лет!” “Iran has found the tomb of vozrstom 12,000 years!” the other “На территории Ирана найдена гробница мага Яромира, возрстом 12 000 лет!” “On the territory of Iran found the tomb of the magician Jaromir, vozrstom 12,000 years!”

One thing is certain: whoever shot the video needs to work on their basic videography skill. The scene does not seem to be an archeological dig site but where it is, is difficult to discern as the video does not pan around the location—yet, everything is too clean.
One of the “stasis” chambers contains what appears to be a regular size (or smaller: compare size of the hand of the person holding the gadget) clay sculpture of a person.

The other whether in the same location or not looks like it is covered in plastic meaning that the sculpture was covered in a glossy paint. This one can also be sized to normal due to the newspaper that was laid upon the body.

Both are adorned with metal meant to look like gold—but it does not appear to actually be such. The “bodies” are also displayed with what appears to be a grab bag of objects such as from Egyptian and Sumerian cultures. This indicates that the display is not at a history or archeology museum, as they would know better, but perhaps some cultural center. This could be a display of how ancient royalty were entombed.

Demons in the Targumim

Herein are quotations and citations on Demons in the Targumim. The Targumim, plural of Targum (Strong’s H8638 meaning interpret as in Ezra 4:7), are Aramaic paraphrases of the Old Testament that began to be produced beginning at the time of the Second Temple period (530 BC and 70 AD). The fuller complete result consists of quotations of those sections within the text that refer to Angels, Cherubim, Seraphim, Devil, Satan, demons, serpent and dragon. The point is not to elucidate these references but to provide relevant partial quotations and citations. See my section on Angels here, Cherubim and Seraphim here, Satan here and Demons here.

Demons in the Targumim.

Targum to Psalms
Psalm 91:5-6, 10 Be not afraid of the terror of demons who walk at night, of the arrow of the Angel of death that he looses during the day; Of the death that walks in darkness, of the band of demons that attacks at noon…The lord of the world responded and thus he said: “No harm shall happen to you; and no plague or demon shall come near to your tents.”

Psalm 106:37 And they sacrificed their sons and their daughters to the demons.

Targum to Song of Songs
3:8 And on this account they are not afraid of demons or shades that prowl by night.

4:6 And all the time that the House of Israel held fast to the ways of their righteous fathers, the demons and night-demons and morning-demons and midday-demons fled from among them, because the glorious Presence of YY dwelt in the Temple that was built on Mount Moriah, and all the demons and destroyers would flee from the smell of the spice incense.

Herein I am considering the claims of Brett T. who runs “Mystery Babylon the Great, the Definitive Website.” At issue are some of his claims about the serpent seedline of Satan theory which holds that Cain is the son of Eve and Satan and thus he and his descendants carry on Satanic genetics. You can find this series here.

Brett notes that Eve “initially didn’t want to eat the fruit” and asks “Did the serpent wholly seduce Eve to eat the forbidden fruit – first with words, then with actual, physical seduction?” At least he admits that this is a speculation (one which he attempts to justify at every turn) “Even though the Bible doesn’t specifically state it.”

Brett then poses another rhetorical question:

Adam and Eve now felt ashamed, and took fig leaves to cover their private parts (Gen. 3:7). Now why would they rush to cover these? Was this, maybe, a reflection of something they did with them?…

When God punished Eve for her sin, it’s interesting to note how many of her punishments revolved around sexuality, childbirth, and motherhood. Why?

Well, you can see how easy it would be to isolate this and allow the serpent seedline of Satan theorists to (mis)interpret it for you.
However, it seems that the reason they covered their nakedness is that in Genesis 2 it was pointed out they were naked and not shamed. The theorists could easily claim that they were not ashamed and ashamed of that which they had done with their nether regions. However, since the Bible knows nothing of that theory then the focus is shame. They were ashamed of having broken God’s commandment and the story does become, or so it seems, symbolic of attempting to cover their sin with works, having God reject their works based salvation and providing a covering which required the shedding of blood. One does not need to deny any and all symbolism simply because such theorists are going amiss and appealing to symbolism.

But what of Eve’s curse? Well, I dealt with this in detail in Serpent Seed of Satan article in a Christian Apologetics journal. The bottom line is that Adam and Eve’s curses tie directly into the little we are told about them. Adam had the hobby of gardening, in essence, but would thereafter have to work the land. Eve was the mother of all living and so her curse relates to that.

We now come to Cain with Brett writing:

The common term for fathering a child in the Bible is begat. Nowhere in the Bible does it say that Adam – Eve’s husband – begat Cain! Plain as that. Although Cain was a child of Eve, could he possibly have had the genetic make up of someone else…nowhere in the Bible does it say that either Cain nor Abel were Adam’s son; nor were they listed in any of the genealogies of Adam! Yet, Cain, for example, was said to be, in the Bible, ‘of the wicked one’ (I John 3:12). The Bible even says that the third-born son of Eve, Seth, was the first child born of her who actually resembled Adam, somewhat (Gen. 5:3)!

There are a few things with which to deal here.
Just because a “common term” is not used does not mean that Adam did not beget Cain and Abel as he “knew” Eve; but we will get to that. For now, note that apparently, not even Abel was Adam’s son.

Abel is not listed in the genealogy because he had no children. Cain was not listed because he absconded from Adam and Eve and started his own family. Ultimately, genealogies were to point to Jesus and the simple fact is that the many sons and daughters of Adam and Eve are not a part of it except for Seth.

Cain was “of the wicked one” but this is merely a partial quotation which is pulled out of its context. The text actually tells us how and why he is as such. Cain “was of that wicked one, and slew his brother” but why did he do so? “And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother’s righteous.” Thus, this is about actions and not genetics. Yet, Brett will claim that his actions were motivated by his genetics, as we shall see.

The Bible never says that the third-born son of Eve was Seth. This is an assumption. Now, it may actually be an accurate one but he is not stated to be the third. Between Abel and Seth many daughters could have been born and, for that matter, many sons. Brett gets it right in nothing that the difference with Seth is that he “resembled Adam.”

Regarding Miracles
The New Testament references to Jesus’ miracles are far too numerous to reproduce here, two examples ought to suffice:

Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a Man attested by God to you by miracles, wonders, and signs which God did through Him in your midst, as you yourselves also know” (Acts 2:22).

And great multitudes followed Him, and He healed them all” (Matthew 12:15).

Moreover, the Qur’an attests to Jesus’ miracles:

Surah 19:29-30,
“she [Mary] pointed to the babe. They said: ‘How can we talk to one who is a child in the cradle? He [Jesus] said: ‘I am indeed a servant of Allah: He has given me Revelation and made me a prophet.”

Surah 5:110,
“Then will Allah say: ‘O Jesus the son of Mary! recount my favor to you and to your mother. Behold! I Strenthened you with the holy spirit, so that you spoke to the people in childhood and in maturity…you made out of clay, as it were, the figure of a bird, by My leave, and you breathed into it, and it became a bird by My leave. And behold! you brought forth the dead by My leave…”

As for Muhammad, the Qur’an attests that he performed no miracles,

Surah 17:91-95,
“They say, ‘We will not believe thee till thou makest a spring to gush forth from the earth for us…[a number of other miracles are requested] or till thou goest up into heaven; and we will not believe thy going up till thou bringest down on us a book that we may read. Say: ‘Glory be to my Lord! Am I aught but a mortal, a Messenger?'”

Surah 29:50,
“They say, ‘Why have signs not been sent down upon him from his Lord?’ Say: ‘The signs are only with God, and I am only a plain warner.'”

While the Qur’an is clear in stating that Muhammad did not perform any miracles stories of his miracles come later, in the Hadith. Apparently, once Muslims began to debate Islam with Jews and Christians they began to exaggerate Muhammad’s life.

Incidentally, the Hadith records that at some point within Muhammad’s lifetime the moon was split into two and it is specifically mentioned as a sign or miracle. The Hadith does not relate how or when the moon was put back together (see Vol. 4, Book 56, # 830-832; Vol. 5, Book 58, # 208-211; Vol. 6, Book 60, # 387-390).
