Islam / Muslim : Muhammad and Jesus, part 10 of 10

Intercession
In this segment we will find that the Qur’an denies that Muhammad was an intercessor, then the Hadith states that he actually was an intercessor and finally, the New Testament makes it clear that Jesus is the intercessor.

Surah 6:51,
“And preach with this (Qur’an) to those who reverence the summoning before their Lord – they have none beside Him as a Lord and Master, nor an intercessor – that they may attain salvation.”

Surah 6:70,
“You shall disregard those who take their religion in vain, as if it is a social function, and are totally absorbed in this worldly life. Remind with this (Qur’an), lest a soul may suffer the consequences of its evil earnings. It has none beside GOD as a Lord and Master, nor an intercessor. If it could offer any kind of ransom, it would not be accepted. They suffer the consequences of the evil works they earn; they have incurred hellish drinks, and a painful retribution because of their disbelief.”

The Hadith attempts to make Muhammad an intercessor (because Jesus does not fit the bill),

Vol. 6, Book 60, # 3,
“The Prophet said, ‘On the Day of Resurrection the Believers will assemble and say, ‘Let us ask somebody to intercede for us with our Lord.’…Moses…will say, ‘Go to Jesus, Allah’s Slave, His Apostle and Allah’s Word and a Spirit coming from Him. Jesus will say, ‘I am not fit for this undertaking, go to Muhammad.”

The New Testatment makes the following statements,

For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus (1st Timothy 2:5).

But He, because He continues forever, has an unchangeable priesthood. Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them (Hebrews 7:24-25).

The conclusion, of this ten part essay is that Jesus as described by the New Testament and understood by Christianity and Muhammad as described by the Qur’an and Hadith and as understood by Islam are extremely different people. Their births, lives, revelations, missions, self understandings, teachings, and deaths were vastly different. Any similarities can only be claimed by what will turn out to be caricatures of Jesus and Muhammad.
