Herein continues a discussion I had with someone I will call Anon. since it was a behind the scenes discussion wherein the person offers some concerns about my views on Nephilim related issues and I am deeply appreciative to this person for raising these issues with me.
When all segments are posted, you will be able to find them here.

Picking up where we left off in the previous segment:

Anon.
I should have prefaced–or made more clear in my preface, that I am familiar with all you have stated here, your reasons, the theories, etc. (and could have spared you all that writing), but very much appreciate you taking the time and willingness to discuss.
I came to my understanding of the text by reading it (guided by the Spirit) and not “from” anyone. If we read it as stated, the implication is “clear” that there were nephilim post flood, and no reason not to take that at face value.

Before anything else, though, may I ask what your “investement” in this is?? Is it driven primarily in a desire to “debunk the nonsense”, or is there something else? This particular “issue” is not a “major” one for me, by any means, however, since you are making videos and writing books and doing interviews, I decided to reach out.
There are many things people hold “dear” to them that are false. None of us are exempt. My concern is that if any of us holds too tightly to a “position” that ends up being false. it will take GREAT humility to accept that and retract what some have so fervently defended (speaking her ein generalities as there is MUCH false doctrine/dogma in the church today).

I feel you are VERY sincere, and humble, and desire to please Him/serve Him, represent Him well. As such, I feel you will be of great value to the Kingdom in the days ahead. btw, Just because the people did not fully follow His commandments to completely wipe them out, does not mean that was not 100% what He commanded and intended them to do (which it 100% was).
NOT doing what He asked cause the very problems God warned them about if they would not obey. In any event, I do thank you for your time and consideration, and very much look forward to meeting you…on this end, or at the Great Supper. Shalom [ellipses in original]

Perhaps I should have prefaced something as well: I only set out to understand. In other words, I did not set out looking for trouble or looking to debunk.
Yet, when I just read what the texts stated, guided by the Spirit, I just repeat what they say.
The one and only reason that you could ever possibly state that “the implication is ‘clear’ that there were nephilim post flood” is exclusively by believing utterly unreliable people. Since they contradict themselves as well as Moses, Caleb, Joshua, God and the rest of the Bible then I will side with Moses, Caleb, Joshua, God and the rest of the Bible.

I agree that it can be an issue that “if any of us holds too tightly to a ‘position’ that ends up being false. it will take GREAT humility to accept that and retract what some have so fervently defended” which makes me wonder if that may be why the people who actually make their living off of this issue have never debated anyone about it (as far as I know) and some even refuse to discuss it vis private email (as I can attest).

As for “does not mean that was not 100% what He commanded and intended them to do (which it 100% was)” well, the ANE hyperbole also applies to that. Yet, regardless: I noted that God never refers to Nephilim or relation to them when telling us why He was commanding such things and that is just a simple fact. I must be loyal to God’s word: what it states and what it does not.

Also, recall I asked about how Nephilim still lived post-flood.

Shalom!

We will pick it up from there in the next segment.
