What made me think of this scene is that they are searching a pizza shop, which has Freemasonic black and white checkerboard floors, for hidden symbols which lead to the disclosure of the identify of a certain person whom no one would have suspected to be involved in well, the movie’s major plot which is basically about a covert organization which can do things to people and then simply mind control them by erasing their memories and implanting new ones so as to cover up a major conspiracy which his that many people are not what they seem—in the movie’s case, they aliens.
