Westworld began as a 1973 AD movie written and directed by Michael Crichton. It has now been revamped by HBO as a series created by Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy and produced by J. J. Abrams and Bryan Burk.
The premise is that a faux town has been built which serves as a sort of fantasy island of sorts wherein people can experience an old west setting.
The original movie was set more like an amusement park of sorts wherein robots play the part of cowboys, they malfunction, go after guests, etc. The new version seems to be more like a murderer’s and pervert’s paradise: they can interact with artificially intelligent androids (anthropomorphic robots) and do that which they please with them.
From what I could see from special features—a few portions of which I had to edit out—I do not recommend this show. Yes, the Transhuman / artificial intelligence aspect will be interesting but being an HBO show they are peppering it with sex of various perverse sorts.
I have noticed a pattern with such shows, for example when I wrote about Sense 8 and Orphan Black, a Transhumanism agenda is being pushed within shows which glorify all sorts of immorality.
The tactic seems to be to get somewhat decent people to refuse to watch them whilst pushing Transhuman and immoral agendas upon those who already have little or no concern for morality and will jump on the Transhuman bandwagon at the first possible opportunity.
