Uri Dowbenko on the Nephilim aka Annunaki

Under continued consideration (find all segments here) is an article Uri Dowbenko published in New Dawn Magazine and is titled New (Reptilian) World Order, November 10, 2013 AD which is a a full frontal assault on anyone who disagrees with Dowbenko.

NEPHILIM AKA ANNUNAKI
Uri Dowbenko asks, “And what about the stories from the Book of Enoch and the Forbidden Books of the Bible which refer to the Nephilim – literally ‘Those Who Were Cast Down’ – and the Watchers, the so-called ‘Fallen Angels’?”

In order to answer this he notes that (unmanaged, unquoted and uncited) “Scholars and historians have been totally confounded by the abrupt rise of the Sumerian culture nearly 6,000 years ago” since it contradicts “the popular historical theory of linear development in cultural evolution.” Interestingly, those taking a Young Earth view would say that this makes sense since the timeline lines up and the closer people lived to the creation event, the more their genetics were close to pristine, the more intelligent they would have been.

In any case, Dowbenko then touches upon his first source of info, “the Sumerian story remained a riddle, until historian-archaeologist Zechariah [actually, “Zecharia”] Sitchin published a remarkable book called The 12th Planet (1979). In his subsequent series entitled ‘The Earth Chronicles,’ Sitchin describes in great detail the crossbreeding program of the Sumerian ‘gods’ through genetic manipulation”—BTW: I read this entire series.

Dowbenko tells us, “Having spent thirty years studying Sumerian, Assyrian, Babylonian and Hittite texts and the Old Testament in the original Hebrew, Sitchin deciphered the ancient scripts, transcribed them, transliterated them and, finally translated them.” Well, whether this is accurate is highly suspect for various reasons. In fact, an actual ancient languages scholar named Dr. Michael Heiser has pointed out various instances wherein Sitchin exhibited little to no knowledge of those things in which he was supposed to be an expert. Heiser produced the website Sitchin is Wrong, he also challenged Sitchin to debate such issues but in a decade’s time Sitchin never accepted.

In any case, Sitchin is good enough for Uri Dowbenko who writes, “His conclusion? Sitchin writes that…a highly advanced race of extra-planetary colonists who came to earth” mostly because for some reason they needed gold, “The Sumerians themselves described them as” they who “had come down to earth from heaven. In the Hebrew text of the Old Testament, the Sumerian gods of heaven and earth are referred to as the Nephilim. The Sumerians themselves called the colonists the Anunnaki.” Note that Dowbenko is confusing the Nephilim with the Sons of God who on his theo-cosmology would be the Anunnaki since it is the Sons of God who “came down” but the Nephilim are their offspring.

Dowbenko writes, “The Bible and Strong’s Concordance does not mention the Nephilim specifically by name.” Well, if he means that it does not refer to them as Anunnaki then it certainly does not nor should or would it. However, if he means that it does not refer to them as Anunnaki then it certainly does that it does not refer to them as Nephilim then it certainly does, see here for Strong’s entry H5303.

We are told, “Sitchin translates the biblical verses from Genesis 6:4 as: ‘The Nephilim were upon the Earth, in those days and thereafter too, when the sons of the gods cohabited with the daughters of Adam and they bore children unto them. They were the Mighty Ones of Eternity.’” The “of Eternity” portion is an unusual translation but not altogether illegitimate as `owlam (Strong’s H5769) can mean ever or everlasting as well as old or ancient.

Getting more specific, we are told, “what does ‘Nephilim’ actually mean? Normally translated into English as ‘giants,’ the word stems from the Semitic root NFL (‘to be cast down’). It means exactly what it says – ‘Those who were cast down upon Earth’…writes Sitchin, ‘but Jewish writings of the time of the Second Temple did recognise in these verses the echoes of ancient traditions of ‘fallen angels.’”

So apparently, both Sitchin and Dowbenko mistake the identity of the Nephilim (or, rather Sitchin does and Dowbenko merely un-skeptically follows his lead). In any case, there is much debate concerning the definition of the term nephiyl. Strong’s defines it as “properly, a feller, i.e. a bully or tyrant:—giant.” When assumed to have its roots in Hebrew it is thought to come from naphal (Strong’s H5307) which is “A primitive root; to fall, in a great variety of applications…cast (down, self, [lots], out), cease, die, divide (by lot), (let) fail, (cause to, let, make, ready to) fall (away, down…overthrow, overwhelm, perish, present (-ed, -ing), (make to) rot, slay, smite out, X surely, throw down.” In turn, naphal is the primitive root of nephel (Strong’s H5309) which refers to “something fallen, i.e. an abortion:—untimely birth” (Job 3:16, Psalm 58:8 and Ecclesiastes 6:3).
However, it appears more likely that the term nephiyl derives from the Aramaic root naphiyla which means giant (which is actually a generic term which merely means taller than the average and note that Hebrew males of those days were 5.5 ft.).

Uri Dowbenko writes:

Apocryphal texts like the Book of Enoch, the Pseudepigrapha, and other politically incorrect so-called “Lost” Books of the Bible reflect a precise knowledge of fallen angels on Earth. In fact, scholars maintain that there were two accounts of separate “falls” of the angels. First, there was the archangel’s rebellion against God and his fall through pride, in which he was followed by other angels – the Nephilim. And second, there was the story of angels who “fell” (lowered their vibration and began their incarnations on Earth) through lusting after the daughters of men – the Watchers.

By “the archangel’s rebellion” he is clearly referring to Satan and yet, the Bible never refers to him as an Archangel and actually not even as an Angels. As per Ezekiel 28 Satan is a Cherub: Angles and Cherubim are different categories of being, they look different, have different titles, different job functions, etc.). Thus, the first regarding Angles is the Genesis 6 affair, as I like to term it.
Now, you can see how messy Dowbenko makes this by referring to Angels falling and incarnating on Earth as “the Watchers.” Now, “Watchers” is the Book of Enoch’s manner whereby to refer to they which Genesis 6 has as “sons of God.” Thus, the sons of God are Angels who are called Watchers in apocryphal texts and who fathered the Nephilim.
Now, indeed, within the Book of Enoch, the Watchers are fallen Angels who teach humanity certain tech such as sorcery, incantations, the making swords, knives, shields, etc. As an FYI: Dowbenko refers to “the three Books of Enoch” and indeed, there are various including one Books of Enoch which states that Enoch wrote 300 books, see here for more info on the Enoch texts: Dowbenko was referring to 1 Enoch aka Ethiopic Enoch.
