In short, the Urantia Book aka Urantia Papers aka The Fifth Epochal Revelation developed between 1924-1955 AD from unknown sources. It is basically a New Age alien re-writing of Earth history, how the Bible is not true as it has always been know, who Jesus was really, whence He came really, what his message was really, etc. Basically, that which I outlines in The how, what and how of extra-terrestrial alien messages.
Thus, I was interested to read an article posted on the book’s main site titled The Nephilim and the Land of Nod, September 20, 2016 AD.
The author stated that a Catholic students (of something or another) of his was “struggling to understand how his faith (his term) can fit into the modern scientific/secular world. He has learned about the ‘out of Africa’ theory of the origins of modern humans and tries to reconcile this evolutionary history with church teachings about Adam and Eve.”
The student asked what he thought of the Nephilim in reference to the Genesis 6 affair. The author delves into inside-Urantia-baseball in stating that “the history of the Planetary Prince and his staff at the Dalamatian colony has nearly disappeared.”
It is rightly noted that “the King James Version (KJV), doesn’t use the term” Nephilim and that “It is from the KJV that we’ve inherited our misleading translation ‘giants in the earth” since he KJV translates Nephilim as “giants” likely following the Septuagint/LXX which translates as gigantes which means Earthborn—which is much later Greek myth came to be a term used of huge creatures.
The Urantia Book mirrors Genesis 6 in chap 77 The Midway Creatures section 2 The Nodite Race. It states that “the line of descent from the rebel members of the corporeal staff of Prince Caligastia from the days of the planetary rebellion to the times of Adam…in the early days of the second garden.”
“The physical members of the Prince’s staff had been constituted sex creatures…procreating offspring embodying the combined qualities of their special order united with those of the selected stock of the Andon tribes, and all of this was in anticipation of the subsequent appearance of Adam” the “creatures whom they hoped would become the teacher-rulers of human society” yet “this project [was] almost completely miscarried.”
Here is the key portion:
“The Nephilim (Nodites) were on earth in those days, and when these sons of the gods went in to the daughters of men and they bore to them, their children were the ‘mighty men of old,’ the ‘men of renown.’” While hardly “sons of the gods,” the staff and their early descendants were so regarded by the evolutionary mortals of those distant days; even their stature came to be magnified by tradition.
This, then, is the origin of the well-nigh universal folk tale of the gods who came down to earth and there with the daughters of men begot an ancient race of heroes. And all this legend became further confused with the race mixtures of the later appearing Adamites in the second garden.
It is also stated that “one hundred corporeal members of the Prince’s staff carried germ plasm of the Andonic human strains” which is 100 less than the Book of Enoch notes (the Bible offers no such numbers). As it turns out “their children proved to be far superior in almost every way to both the Andonite and the Sangik peoples” in “physical and intellectual qualities but also spiritual capacities.” Also referenced is “the Satania system” and how “Urantia scientists modify the germ plasm of plants and animals by the use of X rays.”
Wow, L. Ron Hubbard would hardily approve of this as his supposed true intergalactic tales read just like this. You can also tell how dated this is, meaning that whoever wrote it was writing it with according to the science of their day, by references to “germ plasm” and the modifying of these “by the use of X rays.” Also, clearly this is playing off of what back in the range of 1924-1955 was pop-theology about pre-Adamic races (“that races of human beings existed before Adam and Eve” as the article puts it), attempts to tie evolutionism with Genesis, etc.
In any case, the article’s author refers to “significant corrections” made by the Urantia Book in that it reorders our history as it “places the bestowal of the Material Son and Daughter (Adam and Eve) long after the rebellion, 200,000 years ago, when the children of the Prince’s staff, the ‘Nephilim’ originated.”
We are then told that “The Old Testament (OT) record leads us to believe that the Nephilim, the founders of the Nodite Race, followed after Adam and Eve” which is 100% innacurate since, you know, Genesis 6 comes after Genesis 1-5 (in terms of pagination, grammatically and chronologically), and this is taken to mean that the Nephilim/Nodites “are the children of ‘the first parents’ just as our planet has believed we all are” whatever that means. Now, “Because of the misconception, that missing section of our history from the Lucifer Rebellion to the Garden of Eden story is about 162,152 years” well, that clears that up. Not only are the Nephilim/Nodites said to be pre-Adamic but the Urantia Book “also places the building of the first Tower of Babel in this same Nodite period which precedes the Garden story by several millennia” for whatever self-serving reason.
So, simply by quoting some bad sci-fi the article’s author concludes that he has solved the student’s problem since Urantia “chronology makes it possible for human evolution to coexist with the concept of a divine perfect pair.”
The issue of Cain’s wife also come up as “Cain went to the land of Nod and found himself a wife, a mystery that has confounded Bible scholars for ages” but the Urantia Book come to the rescue with “Cain married Remona, his distant cousin, and their first son, Enoch, became the head of the Elamite Nodites” (76:2.9) this is seen as “racial mixing, the children of Adam, the Adamites, with that race descended from the Planetary Prince, the Nodites.”
Well, I know not her name, nor specifically that she was his distant cousin—nor that she is of pre-Adamic Nephilim/Nodite ancestry but do affirm that, of course, she is a relative—see Where did Cain get his wife?
