Seven gods of chaos

Seven gods of chaos is somewhat of a common parlance term for what in the case of the Book of Enoch are fallen angels, in H.P. Lovecraft they are fictional gods, in the case of Hell Boy they are much the same, in Gnosticism are seven androgynous forces of the seven heavens of chaos, in Babylon there are seven gods of fate, etc.

Let us consider each in turn.

BOOK OF ENOCH – FALLEN ANGELS
The apocryphal Book of Enoch’s book 1 at 18:12-14 states:

“Beyond that abyss I saw a place which had no firmament of the heaven above, and no firmly founded earth beneath it…I saw there seven stars like great burning mountains, and like the spirits that petitioned me [the fallen angels/watchers]. When I inquired regarding them, the angels said, ‘This place is the end of heaven and earth. This has become a prison for he stars and the host of heaven…’”

Also, at 21:2-6 it states:

“I saw there something horrible, a place with neither heaven nor earth, but an awful, terrible void. There, seven stars of the heaven were bound together in it, like great mountains and burning with fire…Then Uriel…said…‘These are the stars of heaven which have transgressed the commandment of the Lord, and are bound here…’”

In the article The Fallen Angel Pleiadian Connection, Richard Stout elucidates that the “‘Stars’ in this verse has two symbolic meanings, as ‘blazing mountains’ & ‘as spirits.’”

With that in mind, note that the Bible references the Pleiadian star system as follows:

“Who makes the Bear, Orion and the Pleiades, And the chambers of the south” (Job 9:9) “Can you bind the chains of the Pleiades, or loose the cords of Orion?” (Job 38:31)

“He who made the Pleiades and Orion and changes deep darkness into morning, who also darkens day into night, who calls for the waters of the sea and pours them out on the surface of the earth, the Lord is His name.” (Amos 5:8)

Next, Richard Stout notes that in parts of the Bible, stars refers to angels such as in the first chapter of Revelation where it states, “In His right hand He held seven stars…the seven stars are the angels.”
Moreover, he notes that angels, who biblically do not have wings and look like human males, are referred to as “ministering spirits” (Hebrews 1:14).

He then drives home the point within the Enoch text:

“In I ENOCH 8, it mentions seven particular (angels) who left their first estate (Heaven) and came to Earth with the purpose of cohabitating with the daughters of men (GEN. 6:1-2.) These seven Fallen Angels are mentioned in this book in chapter 18. As these are the only seven angels who have taught men evil things and are listed in the Book of Enoch, then verse 14 (above) must also be referring to these specific angels (as stars.) Here is a list of their names: Azazyel; Amazarah; Armers; Barkayal; Akibeel; Ramiel; Asaradel. We believe that the seven stars of the Pleiades are the seven stars (Fallen Angels) so listed in Enoch. Let’s take a close look at the verses in chapter 18 of 1 ENOCH: VERSE 15: ‘Then the angel said, ‘This place until the consumption of heaven and earth will be the prison of the stars and the host of heaven.’’

This ‘place’ is the seven stars of the Pleiades. The word ‘prison’ in Greek (teresis) means ‘a watching – keeping’ similar to a ‘place of keeping.’ This means that the seven stars of the Pleiades will be a prison, a place of keeping of these seven fallen angels.”

Here is that which each of them taught as per 1 Enoch ch. 8:1-9

Azazyel taught men to make swords, knives, shields, breastplates, the fabrications of mirrors, and the workmanship of bracelets and ornaments, the use of paint, the beautifying of the eyebrows, the use of stones of every valuable and select kind and all sorts of dyes, so that the world became altered. Impiety increased; fornication multiplied; and they transgressed and corrupted all their ways. Amazarak taught all the sorcerers, and dividers of roots; Armers taught the solution of sorcery; Barkayal taught the observers of the stars. Akibeel taught the signs; Tamiel taught astronomy;

Asaradel taught the motion of the moon.

It may be of interest to note that in the Billy Meier alien contact case there was an alien named Semjase. Within the Book of Enoch there is another fallen angels named Semjase (which is variously spelled as it is transliterated from Ethiopic as Semyaza, Semihazah, Shemyazaz, Shemyaza, Shemhazai, etc.).
It many also be of interest that another Billy Meier contact, 1975-1986 AD, was an alien named Quetzal which is the name of a bird but also related to Quetzalcoatl the Central American Aztec god, the flying serpent.

H. P. LOVECRAFT – GREAT OLD ONES
From this writer of fiction, who some think was on the up and up occultically speaking, we get the concept of the Great Old Ones via that Cthulhu Mythos.

In The Call of Cthulhu (1926 AD) H.P. Lovecraft wrote:

“the Great Old Ones who lived ages before there were any men, and who came to the young world out of the sky. Those Old Ones were gone now, inside the earth and under the sea; but their dead bodies had told their secrets in dreams to the first men, who formed a cult which had never died…when the stars were ready, and the secret cult would always be waiting to liberate him…shapes came out of the dark to visit the faithful few. But these were not the Great Old Ones. No man had ever seen the Old Ones… These Great Old Ones…were not composed altogether of flesh and blood…not made of matter. When the stars were right, They could plunge from world to world through the sky…When, after infinities of chaos, the first men came, the Great Old Ones spoke to the sensitive among them by moulding their dreams…

the secret priests would take great Cthulhu from His tomb to revive His subjects and resume His rule of earth. The time would be easy to know, for then mankind would have become as the Great Old Ones; free and wild and beyond good and evil, with laws and morals thrown aside and all men shouting and killing and revelling in joy. Then the liberated Old Ones would teach them new ways to shout and kill and revel and enjoy themselves, and all the earth would flame with a holocaust of ecstasy and freedom.”

While it may be unknown how many Great Old Ones there are, they are relevant in our consideration of sevens due to that which follows.

MIKE MIGNOLA – HELL BOY’S SEVEN GODS OF CHAOS
In Mike Mignola’s Hell Boy stories the Seven Gods of Chaos as called the Ogdru Jahad and named Amon-Jahad, Adad-Jahad, Namrat-Jahad, Irra-Jahad, Nunn-Jahad, Beuu-Jahad and Nergal-Jahad. Mignols was highly influenced by H.P. Lovecraft.

They are:

“serpentine/crustacean entities which once resided on, and presided over, Earth. They are pitiless, chaotic, bent on destruction and subjugation and often so horrific in appearance that the mere sight of one of them sometimes induced madness.”

“In the beginning of time, God created an order of spirits. Of these, many of the greater spirits were sent to newborn Earth to oversee it as Watchers” and note that in the Book of Enoch the angels are referred to as Angels, Stars and Watchers (a Watcher is mentioned in Daniel 4:13). One of them seems to have taken fire from a dragon and mixed it with mud which is somewhat like the story of Prometheus, the Greek version of the lucifer figure, who stole fire from the gods and gave it (along with other tech) to humanity:

“The other spirits set their seals on the Dragon, and even infused it with fire once again, but still the being remained lifeless. However, when nighttime came, the Ogdru Jahad awoke and the darkness instilled it [them?] with purpose and function, instantly giving birth to the Ogdru Hem who become Earth’s first lifeforms.”

As it turns out the spirits considered the new creations abominations, warred with them and “The Ogdru Hem were eventually all disposed of, with many of them barely clinging to existence in some fashion, with the Ogdru Jahad sealed by their creator in a prison of crystal and placed in the heart of the abyss.”

The rest of the Watchers now distrusted “the one spirit, and so they struck him down and destroyed all his remnants, save for one: his right hand” and you know from the Hell Boy story that the demon (who the story makes into the good guy) was born with this hand, “The Right Hand of Doom.”
Having observed all of this the story’s god “looked down in fury on what had happened, and exacted his retribution on the Watchers for botching their task: some were cast down into the pit” which actually is what happens to the Watchers in the Bible and the Book of Enoch, “while others were stranded on the Earth to breed monsters.”

The lesser original spirits “took up residence on Earth as the first men, the Golden People, the pre-humans” and Thoth was “their greatest king.” Thoth being an Egyptian god who played a big part in Aleister Crowley’s life and works.

Well, Mike Mignola certainly pulled from various occult sources and included names such as Rasputin, he references the real life occult worldview of the Nazis and specified that the Ogdru Hem spawned by the Ogdru Jahad numbered 369; in occult numerological reduction 369 equals 3+6=9 and 9+9=18 and 1+8=9 and 9 equals 666 as 6+6=12 and 1+2=3 and 3+6=9 or 6+6+6=18 and 1+8=9.

The story revolves around the Ogdru Jahad, the Seven Gods of Chaos, who are imprisoned in chambers which can be opened via a key which is the Right Hand of Doom and so various people attempt to separate Hell Boy from his hand in order to either protect the world or bring about Armageddon.

GNOSTIC – SEVEN HEAVENLY FORCES OF CHAOS
If you take any and every Christian doctrine and turn it upside down, inside out and backwards; you get Gnosticism. It is purely satanic doctrine which turns YHVH into a bully and lucifer into the good guy who, like Prometheus, brought enlightenment (actually endarkenment) to humanity.
The Nag Hammadi Gnostic documents contain an untitled text which has generally come to be known as On the Origin of the World. Gnostic literature is much like its modern day version the New Age and just as difficult to discern so filled is it with symbolic language if not poppycock. So the story goes that a certain ruler “had a thought…and by means of verbal expression he created an androgyne.” In this way, he created three beings, “Seven appeared in chaos, androgynous…These are the seven forces of the seven heavens of chaos.”
As can be seen in the traditional depiction of the goat god Baphomet, androgyny is a very important concept in the occult which is why it is being promulgated within our pop-occulture today.

CONCLUSION
There are many more instances in legend, myth, history and sci-fi where seven such beings are referenced. For example, another is that the Babylonian creation myths include seven gods of fate who serve under Marduk.
For whatever reason, and if there really are seven incarcerated fallen angels (there are incarcerated fallen angles—see 2nd Peter chapter 2 and Jude 4-8—but we do not know how may beyond the statement in the Book of Enoch) then their minions (their demonic servants who, as per the Book of Enoch 15:8-12 are the fallen angel’s children) appear to be inspiring humans to seek them, serve them and worship them.
