Satanic Temple’s ritual cycles around the movie “The Witch”

At least their honest (or so it seems) is something we will have to get more and more used to thinking as our culture sinks deeper and deeper into bizzaro world. People sometimes refer to “Christian movies” as if traditional family friendly value movies that, God forbid (not), reference God, Jesus, the Bible, etc. cannot possibly appeal to anyone who is not a born again-bible thumping-evangelical-fundamentalist…what have you.

But what if we refer to movies such as Robert Eggers’ “The Witch” as “Satanic movies”? No, I am not referring to the fact that pop-occulture would condemn you as an ignorant fear monger. I am not referring to the movie’s content but the fact that it is being purposefully and openly employed as tool whereby to literally proselytize for Satanism.

For example, its April 3, 2016 AD showing was at, precisely, “666 Screens” (as per IMDB).
But that is not all, as A24 Films teamed up with The Satanic Temple (about which I previously posted here) so as to turn the movie into the fulcrum of a four-city touring circus termed The Sabbat Cycle. This has A24 Films, the Satanic Temple, individual movie theaters and bars teaming up to openly express their endorsement of Satanism.

The movie is shown, along with opening statements by the Temple’s PR personages and afterwards the festivities begin. At one screening, their spokes-personage Jex Blackmore “took the stage before a screening…and explained that the film was a ‘microcosm of a patriarchal theocratic society that results in satanic revolution.’”
Later that night, she continued playing that victimhood fear mongering card, in claiming that “the separation of church and state is currently under attack by radical religious conservatives.” Also, “Blackmore…warned that Christian theocrats were taking over America…the Christian Right would naturally drive people to rebel against it” and it is readily discernible that the Satanic Temple condemns “Satanic panic” but promulgate a “Christianic panic” of their own.

The movie “The Witch” stars Anya Taylor-Joy, Ralph Ineson, Kate Dickie, Harvey Scrimshaw, Ellie Grainger, Lucas Dawson et al. It is set circa 1630 AD, New England and is about what else but spitting in the face of Christianity. It is basically a re-re-re-rehashed story about a Christian family who all end up calling each other “witch!!!!” and all are killed off except for one of the daughters who ends up joining the witches’ coven who was really and actually responsible for the bewitching and deaths. Ultimately, it is about Jesus failing to help them in any way whatsoever.

“Drafthouse employee and film buff Laird Jimenez” was asked for his “assessment. He noted that ‘escaping patriarchy’ is currently part of a cultural zeitgeist” and so the Satanic Temple’s popularity grows based on a few factors. It currently boasts circa 100,000 members (counting both the US and UK together) based on estimates which include counting “membership cards and various forms of online support.” Well, I once knew an utterly non-Satanist who called himself a Satanist simply because he liked to play the rebellious part.

Thus, Satanism, in whatever form, appeals to those who want a springboard from which to launch their rebellion against God, against the Bible, against Christianity, etc. It also appeals to those desperately seeking the utter destruction of the society-culture which grants them the freedom of speech to besmirch the society-culture which grants them the freedom of speech. For example, the Satanic Temple has campaigned in favor of abortion—Satanists campaigning in favor of human-child sacrifice.

As reported, at one of the ritual sites, a bar, “Leather jackets, tattoos and pentagrams were in abundance…those present – atheists, satanists, fans of heavy metal and punk music…Another…identified as a witch.” In other words, the true rebels of society all look, dress and tattoo themselves so that they all end up looking exactly the same—this is not rebellion but conformity.

Lastly, note that this can get very serious very quickly as the Satanic Temple’s war cry is rebellion and revolution and they are appealing to people who do not seem to have much to lose, “Blackmore saw ‘The Witch’ as an opportunity to get more people involved and hasten their political revolution.”
