“It’s a nightmare we’re never going to wake up from”

For “reason of insanity,” Jody Kossow has been ordered to undergo treatment at under the Illinois Department of Human Services for a century.
Such was the ruling due to her having stabbed her 8-year-old son Thomas 55 times in September 2013 AD.
The boy stated that he wanted to go outside, at night, to view the stars. The next known event is that she went outside with a knife and murdered him on their drive way. At the time her now ex-husband, Michael and their daughter were sleeping.
Jody Kossow called 911 herself to report the deed and noted “Satan was after me. God told me to kill my son.” Later she stated that her son had been “conceived under a spell” and so was that which is being reported as an evil, bad seed who had to be killed.

Reportedly, “two expert reports from psychiatrists that both said she was having a mental breakdown and didn’t realize what she was doing” yet, family members note that she “never noticed any mental problems.”
David Doll, her attorney, stated, “There was no reason for this to happen unless she had a mental breakdown” or, I will add, unless she acted based on her beliefs. Now, what those where is difficult to discern since if people reporting such matters are not very much aware of them, they will generalize.
However, the following has been reported, “She was all about spiritual healing, you know rocks and the earth. That’s weird but that’s not abnormal, that’s not crazy, that’s not insane, that’s not crazy to any of us.”
She “blamed Satan,” “was witchcraft-obsessed,” “she believed in witchcraft,” “Kossow’s family members also testified during the trial, saying she was a Wiccan,” “was preoccupied with witchcraft.”
