Marilyn Mason and Vincent Van Gogh: the self-fulfilling prophecy

The homepage of the “official Marilyn Manson forum” contains an article on Marilyn Manson use of a most dangerous drug called absinthe. He has even produced his own brand called Mansinthe.

The article begins with the following quote:

And the third angel sounded and there fell a great star from heaven, burning as it were a lamp, and it fell upon the third part of the rivers, and upon the fountains of waters; And the name of the star is called Wormwood: and the third part of the waters became wormwood; and many men died of the waters, because they were made bitter.

Revelation 8:10-11

But what on Earth does a drug, Marilyn Manson and Revelation have to do with each other? Well, perhaps nothing “on Earth.”
J. Michael Bennett, Ph.D. was interviewed by The Endtime Tribune for the show titled Dr. Future – Pharmakeia . He mentions Marilyn Manson, absinthe, Mansinthe and…the Revelation text; but why? Firstly, let us note the self-fulfilling prophecy.

In the sister video to this article you will see an image, an advertisement of sorts, which the article labels as:

Vincent van Manson, evoking a one very famous Nineteenth Century absinthe inspired cosmetic procedure. Alternative Press. November 2000

Indeed, the image shows Marilyn Mason (whose pseudonym is a composite of Marilyn Monroe and Chrales Manson) is framed as Vincent van Manson as he is holding his severed left ear. Well, that was in 2000 AD and in 2012 AD, mere days ago, Marilyn Manson state:

I was hit by a glass table in a dangerous fight. I was however, the victor but had to have 24 stitches to keep my ear from becoming Van Goth.

So, from Vincent Van Gogh to Vincent van Manson to Van Goth with Marilyn first pretending loose his ear to coming very, very close to almost losing his left ear for real.

As the article notes:

As early as 1998 when he first delved fully into painting, Marilyn Manson has been one of the world’s most notorious connoisseurs of the legendary spirit, absinthe. First referenced heavily as being integral to the creation process of 2000’s Holy Wood (In The Shadow of the Valley of Death), it was 2003’s Golden Age of Grotesque as Manson’s homage to art, expressionism, late Nineteenth Century Parisian decadence and Weimar era “Degenerate” Art where Manson could scarcely be seen without a milky glass of the green spirit as his accessory.

This is somewhat esoteric (of course, so is the word esoteric: something hidden and understood by a small group of people) yet, the point is that this drug has been a favorite of many “artists” of various sorts as it is, along with every other pharmakeia drug; a virtual neon sign that you place on your body which says, “Hey demons; come in, we’re open!!!” The article notes:

The legacy of the insidious alcoholic drink needs little introduction other than the obligatory note of its centuries old influence upon countless artists and poets, that its lucid effects were an inspiration behind the ecstatic visions painted by the Impressionists.

Impressionists? So another Van Gogh connection? Indeed:

Absinthe’s illicit secret ingredient, wormwood, is said to have fueled the hallucinations of painters Edgar Degas and Vincent Von Gogh, and poets Paul Verlaine and Arthur Rimbaud.

But what is a pharmakeia drug? Well, some will instantly discern that the word pharmakeia is whence our modern term pharmacy comes. So, is aspirin a demonic beacon? Well, perhaps (considering how utterly corrupt the pharmakeia companies are. Yet, the point is that there has always been a direct correlation between drugs of various sorts, such as hallucinogenic, and the occult of various sorts.

Pharmakeia is Strong’s G5331 and is defined as:

1) the use or the administering of drugs 2) poisoning 3) sorcery, magical arts, often found in connection with idolatry and fostered by it

4) metaph. the deceptions and seductions of idolatry

Thus, the same term actually references drugs and magickal sorcery.

Back to Revelation which stated “the star is called Wormwood…the waters became wormwood; and many men died of the waters, because they were made bitter” and back to the article which notes:

Mansinthe is finally released, a high quality spirit distilled from grand wormwood, anise, fennel and other fine herbs. With other demagogue celebrity lines of absinthe sold by Absinthe.de such as H.R. Giger and the late Jhonn Balance (of the seminal and highly influential group Coil…), Manson is in good company with the lineage of his brand.

Well, perhaps it is better stated that he is in bad company, “Do not be deceived: ‘Bad company corrupts good morals’” (1st Corinthians 15:33). And Marilyn Manson is clearly keeping likeminded, corrupt morals, company as H.R. Giger and Jhonn Balance both have relation to the occult.

Note the following:

During writing/recording, Manson imbibed a great deal of this exotic, potentially dangerous import, he says, so much that the whole process began to teeter on the brink of self-destruction. The liqueur company – in a show of friendship – even sent its illustrious client a branch of the absinthe base element, wormwood. “Wormwood tied into the album on a couple weird levels, because it was supposed to be a poison that God sent down to taint the waters to punish mankind. And it’s related to King Solomon, who – as legend has it – had a ring that contained a worm which, when unleashed, could supposedly devour the world. Just like the serpent in [Norse mythology’s Armageddon] Ragnarok, forever eating its own tail.” Just so you do not miss any of this, the article specifies that Mansinthe is “66.6% alcoholic content per volume. 0.7 liters per bottle”:

666, the Number of the Beast of Revelation, and 7, the number of God and of Alchemical completion.

As we made evident in our article Marilyn Manson: on the anti-Christ and self-deification Marilyn Manson may, perhaps, talk a good game when it comes to theology but his lack of knowledge is quite evident to anyone who actually checks upon on his assertions. Here is one such assertion:

“In the Bible wormwood was supposed to be the plant that grew in the path exiting the Garden of Eden, a poison that God sent down to punish mankind,” claims Manson. “I thought it was something I should try. There is something nice to the ritual as well,” he adds.
“Making the album, there were a lot of rituals – whether it was something as simple as absinthe, or just achieving a mindset that took you out of the regular world so that you could concentrate on what you were creating.”

Where he got the idea about wormwood and Eden is unclear, except that he did not get it from the Bible. He has also claimed that “wormwood was held to have sprung up from the tracks of the Serpent as it was banished from the Garden of Eden.” Well, whatever “was held” means we can say that “it preaches good” but there is certainly no biblical support for this.

The word “wormwood” appears as follows:

Deu 29:18 “so that there may not be among you man or woman or family or tribe, whose heart turns away today from the LORD our God, to go [and] serve the gods of these nations, and that there may not be among you a root bearing bitterness or wormwood;

Pro 5:4 But in the end she is bitter as wormwood, Sharp as a two-edged sword.

Jer 9:15 therefore thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: “Behold, I will feed them, this people, with wormwood, and give them water of gall to drink.

Jer 23:15 “Therefore thus says the LORD of hosts concerning the prophets: ‘Behold, I will feed them with wormwood, And make them drink the water of gall; For from the prophets of Jerusalem Profaneness has gone out into all the land.’ “

Lam 3:15 He has filled me with bitterness, He has made me drink wormwood.

Lam 3:19 Remember my affliction and roaming, The wormwood and the gall.

Amo 5:7 You who turn justice to wormwood, And lay righteousness to rest in the earth!”

Amo 6:12 Do horses run on rocks? Does [one] plow [there] with oxen? Yet you have turned justice into gall, And the fruit of righteousness into wormwood,

Rev 8:11 The name of the star is Wormwood. A third of the waters became wormwood, and many men died from the water, because it was made bitter.

In the Hebrew the word is la’anah (Strong’s H3939) and in the Greek it is apsinthion (Strong’s G894).

The article makes some pagan connections:

The Latin name for wormwood is Artemisia Absinthium, the prefix is derived from the Greek Goddess of wilderness and the hunt, Artemis…The Greeks used the herb for treatment against parasites such as fleas and worms which is where it’s modern-day name, wormwood, originates from…the similar herb mugwort, or Artermisia Vulgaris…Absinthe must contain grand wormwood, anise and fennel. If it doesn’t contain the ‘holy trinity’ it’s not Absinthe….
Wormwood also appears as the name of a character in C.S. Lewis’ 1942 novel ‘The Screwtape Letters’. Written in epistle style in which Screwtape, a “senior devil” in the hierarchy of Hell, gives a series of instructional letters to his infernal nephew and disciple named Wormwood on how to best corrupt a wayward soul which he is trying to lead astray from God, further towards Satan.

Previously, a keyword showed up, “inspiration behind the ecstatic visions” now more follow:

Absinthe is not merely a recreation for Manson but has frequently been seen as an integral medium within his art. What originally began as an inebriated witching hour painting session, as intoxication set in, according to Manson, he mistakenly dipped his brush not into his cup of water but into his glass of absinthe with surprisingly pleasant results upon applying it to his painting. As the green liqueur made an interestingly hued watercolor stain, Manson has used it in several of his paintings.

Inspiration, ecstasy and now medium key us in on the spiritual nature of what this drug is all about.

The article notes that Marilyn Manson keeps an online journal wherein some entries, “were written in stream-of-conscious, Dada-esque free form manner, presumably also absinthe inspired.” So, they are either drug induced ranting, spirit guided (read as demon guided) messages or some combination thereof.
