James Watson – psychology is too PC

No, James Watson is not Sherlock Holm’s sidekick.

At the Big Think a video interview with James Watson—molecular biologist and co-discoverer of DNA—has been posted as Psychology Is Too PC.

Sometime in the 21st century psychology will finally be considered a science. But until then political correctness will interfere with its search for truth.

…Watson reasserts that there are definitely genetic differences in intelligence. But he says we don’t know very much about these differences though because psychology is “totally dominated by political correctness.”

Watson also discusses the key breakthroughs in the search for the double-helix back in the 1950s…

Watson says mental disorders like schizophrenia are entirely genetic, at least a predisposition for them. Whether they will progress to the full-blown disorder depends on environmental factors, including drugs. Marijuana, he says, can trigger schizophrenia in someone who is predisposed to the disease.

… in 1968 he became director of Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (CSHL) on Long Island…Watson remained involved with CSHL, as president and later as chancellor, until 2007, when he retired following a controversy over comments he made claiming blacks are less intelligent than whites.

This is how the video segments break down:
