Hot on the heels of having reported on Bill Maher: for the love of death, it seems like a good time to consider the following.
The specific term “Pro-Life” pertains to the issue of abortion but has been expanded, by some, to regard all human life. Thus, there are some who claim to be pro-life by which they mean against abortion and also against capital punishment aka the death penalty.
Yet, there are those who are pro-life regarding abortion and yet also pro-capital punishment/death penalty.
This brings about the allegation by pro-choice/pro-abortion proponents that it is hypocritical to be both pro-life regarding abortion and yet also be pro-capital punishment/death penalty (generally, pro-choice/pro-abortion proponents are anti-capital punishment/death penalty).
Let us consider both positions and see how each concludes.
Pro-life regarding abortion and pro-capital punishment/death penalty:
Is against the brutal and painful dismembering murder of healthy, innocent and defenseless human babies.
Is for the execution of adults who made conscious decisions to carry out criminal acts for which they knew the consequences ahead of time.
Pro-choice/pro-abortion and anti-capital punishment/death penalty:
Is for the brutal and painful dismembering murder of healthy, innocent and defenseless human babies.
Is against the execution of adults who made conscious decisions to carry out criminal acts for which they knew the consequences ahead of time.
In short pro-life regarding abortion and pro-capital punishment/death penalty believe in protecting the innocent and defenseless but punishing the guilty while pro-choice/pro-abortion and anti-capital punishment/death penalty believe in capital punishing the innocent and defenseless but protecting the guilty.
This is why you cannot take a pro-choice/pro-abortion proponent seriously. Or, rather, take them seriously but do not be concerned about what they have to say when they condemn you. Remember to consider the source as you are dealing with someone who supports, with deed, though, word and vote, the brutal and painful dismembering murder of healthy, innocent and defenseless human babies.
