In this case, Extant’s S02E06 double episode is in view “You Say You Want an Evolution / The Other” (aired August 6, 2015 AD).
This is from a conversation between Ethan, a Humanich: an android (a human looking robot) and Julie Gelineau, one of his programmers:
JULIE: Say what you feel. ETHAN: You reprogrammed me not to feel. JULIE: That’s not true. And I can restore your program back to what it was at any time. You can feel all those old feelings again, your memories of Molly [Ethan’s human “mother”]. If that’s what you want. ETHAN: And feel pain?
JULIE: Sometimes pain is okay if it means you get to know the truth.
It is interesting that they hit upon such a factual aspect of the problem of evil which is that pain, suffering, evil, etc. is only gratuitous if there is no God.
An aspect of the show is that alien genetics are mixing with human genetics resulting in hybrids. At one point, it is noted that “The hybrids have evolved. Their cellular biology is extremely adaptive.”
The adaptation eventually includes that human women can birth alien hybrids…after a slight hiccup:
MOLLY WOODS: The deaths are unforgivable.
ADHU [an alien]: But we have managed to evolve.
MOLLY: Evolve? How?
ADHU: We procreate without causing harm to humans. Hybrid births no longer kill the mothers.
The following denotes part of the selling point, as it were, for hybridizing with aliens:
MOLLY: Look. Healed. I heal faster. I think faster. What we’re dealing with here, JD, is evolution. Survival of the fittest. Now, what we ought to be doing is studying them, not trying to kill ’em!
Yet, she is told, “Coexistence with the hybrids means the end of the human race. Extinction” to which she replies:
Maybe not. Maybe it’s just a new beginning. We haven’t even thought of the possibilities. They’re smarter than us. They heal faster. Their DNA just might contain a medical magic bullet.
She is reminded that “They control your thoughts, make you do whatever they damn well please” but she replies that, as above, “They’re not killing women anymore. They’ve evolved.”
Thus, Molly seems to be looking forwards to a new hybrid world order with the hybrids being the übermensch.
Lucy, another humanich, has this conversation with another programmer named Charlie Arthurs:
LUCY: Charlie I found your checklist for Humanichs. What’s an expiration date?
CHARLIE: You’re not supposed to be snooping.
LUCY: I wasn’t snooping. I was looking.
CHARLIE: John Woods made it very clear that he wanted Humanichs to have the human experience, so he built in a program for them to expire.
LUCY: You mean die.
CHARLIE: I mean humans die. It’s just part of the deal. It sort of defines us. To make Humanichs more human, it just seemed logical to build in a termination point.
LUCY: It’s not logical to me. Humans have to die, we don’t. If you want us to be more like you, then give us the same rights. Let us really live before we die.
CHARLIE: Look, I’m so sorry you had to find out that way. I know it’s a lot to absorb. You’re responding like any human would.
LUCY: Because I’m more human than you think, Charlie. I wish you understood that.
The last point of interest is that hybrid DNA is causing human DNA to become triple stranded as people such as a certain “Mei Fong,” whose “DNA has somehow been converted to a triple helix” means that “this woman is a hybrid…A casualty of microchimerism.” Thus, not only are the alien / human babies hybrids but the human mothers are being changed as well.
