Kevin Ho works for one of China’s tech giants, Huawei, he stated that “the company used science fiction movies like ‘The Matrix’ to envision future trends and new business ideas…Ho said science fiction films helped spur his team to consider new product lines.” Is it any wonder then that the company “is preparing for a world where people live forever, dead relatives linger on in computers and robots try to kill humans.”1
He also noted, that “by 2035, or 25 years from now…you may be able to purchase computing capacity to serve as a surrogate, to pass the baton from the physical world to the digital world” and added that disease and death would be nonissues.
Kevin Ho foresees a Superman’s Fortress of Solitude-like scenario whereby you will be able to interact with the (simulacrum) of your deceased loved ones after they have the contents of their brains downloaded and uploaded into a computer.

He also referenced the necessity of increasing data storage, etc. for Matrix-like downloading of knowledge, skills, etc.
Duquesne University’s political philosophy teacher Charles T. Rubin authored, “Eclipse of Man: Human Extinction and the Meaning of Progress”2
He also appeals to sci fi for his Transhuman view and goals as he noted, “In popular fictional depictions — such as in Marvel’s superhero television series ‘Agents of SHIELD’ and the much more acclaimed science fiction series ‘Orphan Black’…”—see my article Transhumanism and transgenderism in Orphan Black show.
He notes that in such shows “‘transhumanist’ is used more or less as a synonym for ‘mad scientist.” The notion of humans taking charge of human evolution is strongly associated with those who seem to be the bad guys.” Of course, note that if we take such charge then it will no longer be evolution but intelligent design—or rather, redesign in our image. He continues thusly, “Movies and TV need drama and conflict, and it is possible that transhumanists just make trendy villains. And yet the transhumanists and the show writers are alike operating in the realm of imagination, of possible futures. In this case, I believe the TV writers have the richer and more nuanced imaginations that more closely resemble reality.”
In other words, everyone wants to have their finger in the format of supposed fiction so that they can thereby push their real life worldviews. For example, the Atheist activist Sam Harris has been working behind the scenes so as to get the media at large to openly besmirch theism: job well done!!!—see my article More Evidence of Pro-Atheism and Anti-Theism Media Campaigns.
