“Skeptic Arena” Atheist on “David Wood, that psychopathic Christian thug” 7 of 9

That which follows is a discussion I had with a certain Neo from the The (pseudo) Skeptic Arena with whom I have had many interactions all of which, including this parsed one, you can find here.

Picking up where we left off, Neo replied

Ken, good to hear from you. What have you got for me this time? Ken wrote: Now, I have attempted to help you before with regards to the disjointed manner in which you reply to statements Ken, you don’t know how much that means to me. Most people don’t give a [****], but as you just admitted, you have attempted to help me. I doubt God will give you much credit for that though (because I think the Big Guy is still pretty pissed at me after all the things I said about Him in my book), but it means a lot to me. which is the same way you deal with the Bible: you disconnect thought that are meant to be connected and thus, take them out of context and then claim that they do not make sense but they does not makes sense because you have segmented them. Ken, you need to calm down. Here’s what you just wrote:

“thought that are meant”

“but they does
“not makes sense” Ken, I know you are usually better than this, so the only thing I can figure, is that you are really starting to come apart at the seams. Your typing is what one would expect from someone whose fingers are trembling with anger so badly that you can’t see straight. Advice: Calm down, go have a brewski, smoke some dope, have sex with your plastic blowup Betty doll, and then take a nappie. When you have your hysterics under control, change into a fresh diaper, and then you can come back and play. For example, you challenge me thusly, “Ken, produce the quote where I told you to stop it.” But friend, please re-read my statement in the actually connected manner in which I wrote it, “Let us imagine that I am performing some action” which means that it is a gedanken experiment and I followed directly with “You tell me to stop it because it is wrong, bad, evil, immoral, unethical, etc.” Thus, there is no quote, I never claimed that there was and you fail to understand that which I stated: that this was a fictional example. Ken, you missed it, didn’t you? Your entire worldview is “fictional.” (Sports Fans: sometimes, all you have to do is just sit back and watch them set themselves on fire. Ken would have made a great Tibetan Monk). Yet, overall after three full pages worth of font size 10 you still utterly fail to understand how a simple conversation functions and have not even gotten close to replying. Ken, apparently you must have misplaced my last 7 emails. No problem, I have included them below so you can refresh your memory. This is what Atheism has done to you or what you have done with Atheism: you/it cannot justify condemning anything at all, you/it cannot provide the prerequisites of intelligibility, you/it cannot establish any standards of truth, logic or ethics. And yet, you still hold me to those standards. The fact is that you do so because you were created in God’s image Ken, what image is that? Is He white, black, brown, or yellow? Is He tall, short, fat, or skinny? Hey Ken, if I was created in God’s image, how come I’m not … invisible? and this is why you condemn even though you have no viable Atheistic reason for doing so: because God’s law is at work within you. This is also why you demand truth, logic and ethics even though I have asked you time and again (as anyone can see here) to justify your demands and you have yet to even begin to attempt to do so. Ken, I hear what you are saying: you think I’m ignoring you. That hurts me Ken. After 8 emails now, I would have hoped that you would feel differently. So, since you are the one who positively asserts that the Passover events were wrong, bad, evil, immoral, unethical, etc. it is incumbent upon you do give a reason for this. Ken, what in the world possessed you to attempt to defend your God’s murder of innocent children by asking why it was evil? Even Christians are face palming. Little kids are burying their heads. Jesus is puking. The cc list is going nuts. They are all praying for a divine lightning strike on your trailer park. In your deepest delusions, how could you even begin to think that questioning the morality of murdering innocent babies was a good strategy? Dude, you have just given the greatest demonstration in history, of what religion can do to the mind: in your case it has turned it into a quivering mass of useless Jello. So now, we not only have a freak who worships a brutal, butchering monster, but one who doesn’t even comprehend that what his invisible ghost did was wrong. The fact that you could even question that, proves that you cannot discern right from wrong. That inability allows the mentally ill to avoid the death penalty and prison, and instead, be sentenced to an asylum. Hey Ken – if you ever get into trouble with the law (such as trying to kill someone) you can submit these emails as evidence in your defense that you are incapable of telling the difference between right and wrong. Just think Ken, no more begging for quarters and dollar bills – you’ll live comfortably in an institution where you can spend as much time as you want painting pretty pictures. Remember when you tried to defend David Wood, that psychopathic Christian thug who attempted to murder his own father by hitting him repeatedly in the head with a hammer? And now you see no problem with God murdering innocent babies? Dude, you have to be the sickest puppy on the planet. The fact that you can’t grasp the most obvious instances of immorality, and have to demand that people explain it to you, indicates that you are someone who should not be walking around in public … without guards. But I think I may have a solution here: You desperately need money (remember “If you can even spare $1.00 as a donation, please do so: it may not seem like much … it would add up and really, really help “) and most of us could use some entertainment, so why don’t we set you up with David Wood in a cage match? You could both enter the Octagon in brightly colored spandex speedos which will drive the gays wild and ensure that no women will want to watch. And then the two Christians gladiators, one completely devoid of morals, and the other lacking even a meager understanding of morality, could tear into each other. My guess is that by the end of the second round, both of you will be butt naked and the referee couldn’t separate you two with a crowbar. Thus, the reason that Passover events were wrong, bad, evil, immoral, unethical, etc. is ________________________: you fill in the blank and we will take it from there. Ken, ask a 5-year-old, ANY 5-year-old, and they could explain it to you. The saddest part is that … you still wouldn’t get it.

Ken Ammi

Well, friend I will admit that I am dyslexic and that English is my second language so if you want to pick on me for grammatical errors fell free. You claim that you have already provided a reason, and not merely an emotive assertion, for concluding that the Passover events were evil: please simply send me the quotations from your previous replies. You claim that I have defended “God’s murder of innocent children by asking why it was evil?” which is a literally incoherent statement. The order of events needs to be: Neo elucidates why it is evil, Ken takes it from there. Since you have not done your part, I have been left with nothing to do. Keep in mind that you are the one that stated, “ANY 5-year-old, and they could explain it to you” so why can you not do so? You claim that I “tried to defend David Wood”: please simply send me the quotations from when I did so. I would imagine that from your perspective this is a case of you asserting that I defended David Wood by asking why his actions were evil. Same as above: you failed to elucidate why it was evil and thus, left me nothing to do—as anyone can read from that exchange here [http://www.truefreethinker.com/articles/skeptic-arena-takes-david-wood]. Recall that you wrote, “The world can only hope that people like David Wood, Ken Ammi, and all the other conservative Christians, catch Zika or Malaria and disappear from the face of the Earth…‘You People’ are the most despicable, violent, sub-humans on the planet…”

It is an tragedy that you are so filled with hatred, please reconsider, “God commends his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8).

Idan Dershowitz claims the “The Secret History of Leviticus” includes gay pride

Harvard University’s Dr. Idan Dershowitz—Society of Fellows Department, Post-Doc. Studies Biblical Studies, Iron Age (Archaeology), and Torah/Pentateuch—wrote of the opinion piece “The Secret History of Leviticus,” for The New York Times e (July 21, 2018).
Dr. Michael Brown has written a thorough debunking of it, under the title A new version of Leviticus to support gay sex, so I will merely make a few notes on the issue.1

Firstly, the title refers to a “Secret History” and if that stinks of conspiracy then, you got the point: to inspire or fan the flames of skepticism—in this case, hyper-conspiratorial-skepticism.

He cannot help but admit that Leviticus 18:22 and 20:13 “prohibits sex between men” in stating, “You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination.”

Well, Dr. Idan Dershowitz takes a documentary hypothesis view of the text whereby, or so he claims:
“Leviticus was created gradually over a long period and includes the words of more than one writer. Many scholars believe that the section in which Leviticus 18 appears was added by a comparatively late editor, perhaps one who worked more than a century after the oldest material in the book was composed. An earlier edition of Leviticus, then, may have been silent on the matter of sex between men.”

Since, let us face it, this all implies making up stuff thus, he hilariously states, “But I think a stronger claim is warranted” and refers to that “there is good evidence that an earlier version of the laws in Leviticus 18 permitted sex between men” (italics in original). Moreover, that the text was “revised in an attempt to obscure any implication that same-sex relations had once been permissible. The chapter’s original character, however, can be uncovered with a little detective work.”

But no: no such stronger claim is forthcoming.

So, just what is this secret history? No, he does not cite ancient manuscripts and elucidates how they differ from one another on this point. No, he does not cite any of the earliest commentaries, liturgies, translations, paraphrases, etc.
Rather, he peppers his assertions with weasel words such as “Many scholars believe…perhaps…may have…I believe…If…unlikely…It seems.”
Furthermore, refers to “gloss…gloss…gloss…gloss…glosses…glosses…gloss…glosses…glosses” which refers to those places in the text where he—biasedly and subjectively—simply supposes that a later editor has inserted comments.

To review thus far: unlike circa two thousand three hundred years’ worth of translators, commentators, academics, scholars, etc. living in different cultures, dealing with Hebrew, Greek, Aramaic and other languages he—yes, he!—is the first and only one to discover that while the only known versions of Leviticus “prohibits sex between men,” it turns out that (and keep the timing in mind: more on this later) it actually permits it.

idan20dershowitz20the20secret20history20of20leviticus20the20new20york20times20lgbtq20gay20homosexuality-2784886

Note the tactic of referring to “Many scholars”: 1) we are clearly supposed to be impressed, 2) he does not name a single one, 3) it is an argument from authority, 4) he does not even tell us in what field these many scholar have expertize, 5) “Many” is a relative term so we do not even know what he subjectively means by it.

He claims that his “little detective work” uncovered “evidence of editorial intervention” whereby “the prohibitions in Leviticus against incest no longer outlawed any same-sex couplings” so that “homosexual incest is prohibited” but “non-incestuous homosexual intercourse is permitted.”

Oh well, if that is the case then the Bible is intolerant hate-speech because it condemns homosexual incest!!!

Again, these conclusions are not based on manuscripts nor even textual criticism or higher criticism but on form criticism which is as subjective as his claims have sounded thus far: Hey, I think that some words in verse thus and such were added later—and now I can publish about it!!!

He presumes that this was all done (surely, via a mass conspiracy), “If a later editor of Leviticus opposed homosexual intercourse.” But why assert as much? Surely, it is because his liberal (a term that today means militant authoritarian dogmatist) readership, particularly via the New York Times (which has admitted to be liberally biased) would swallow that mere assertion hook, line and stinker.
Why not assert a much more likely assertion which is that “If a later editor of Leviticus opposed homosexual intercourse” and manipulated the text to reflect his bias, then other editors, priests, scribes, etc. would have shown him the (tent) door. Dr. Idan Dershowitz seems to have invented a super-hero/villain who was omnipotent within his community so that his editorializing literally became law, only left glossy traces, and whose edited text has been promulgated to this day.

Besides biased and subjective form criticism he, of course, also brings philosophizing into it. For example:
“A lawmaker is unlikely to specify that murdering one’s father is against the law if there is already a blanket injunction against murder. By the same token, it’s not necessary to stipulate that sex between two specific men is forbidden if a categorical prohibition against sex between men is already on the books.”

Notice that his presupposition, that upon which he bases his argument and therefore his conclusion, is that a categorical prohibition against sex between men was already on the books, which would make condemning incestuous homosexuality unnecessary.
But why not take the much less problematic and commonsensical approach that, guess what, it was within Leviticus that sex between men is specifically categorical prohibited? This simple approach, which is verified by any and all manuscripts of the text (and commentaries upon it, and translations of it, and paraphrases of it) actually turn the tables on Dr. Idan Dershowitz and make his claim that it only condemns incestuous homosexuality unnecessary: since it categorical prohibits sex between men, it does not need to have him invent the idea that it categorical prohibits incestuous sex between men.

The fact is that Genesis chaps 1 and 2 have always been viewed as laying out the template for stable and health God ordained sex, marriage and family via the coming together of one man and one woman for life. This is the premise upon which the rest of the Bible’s references to sex, marriage and family follow.

Lastly, back to my point about keeping the timing of this revelation of a secret in mind. Dr. Idan Dershowitz does not venture a guess about when these glosses were perpetrated (it must have been very, very, very early so as to leave absolute zero tangible evidence behind) but we need not guess about why and when Dr. Dershowitz makes such claims.

Is it a mere coincidence that Dr. Dershowitz—and neo-clergy—who support LGBTQIAP+ only figured out such things now? Now, when fallen, corrupt, condemned, secular and Pagan (at once) culture is demanding not only tolerance but approval of such lifestyle choices?

Culture leads, and they merely follow—and condemn anyone who does not.

And so we come full circle—an ouroboros circle which devours itself—in that the conspiracy theory claim is that “If a later editor of Leviticus opposed homosexual intercourse” then he manipulated the text and yet, we end up with 100% assured proof that Dr. Idan Dershowitz is an editor of Leviticus who approves of homosexual intercourse.

Thomas Horn on Nephilim return: ancient biotech and modern science, 1 of 3

Thomas Horn wrote an article titled “Did Ancient Biotech Create ‘Nephilim”? Will Modern Science Bring Them Again?” which begins with this translation “The benei Elohim saw the daughters of Adam, that they were fit extensions (Gen 6:2, Interlinear Hebrew Bible).”
While it may not mean anything, one should at least begin unfurling a red flag when encountering a clearly unusual translation. I am also unsure if there is one particular “Interlinear Hebrew Bible” which Horn is quoting since, for example, the one found here does not read like the quote.

In any case, Horn notes that in Genesis:
“In the study of the Old Testament Book of Genesis, beings of great stature called ‘giants’ appear, which some scholars believe came into existence after powerful angels known as ‘Watchers’ descended to earth and used women (or their biological matter) to construct bodies of flesh, which they used to ‘extend’ themselves into the material world.”

Let us pause in order to elucidate this fast moving statement:
Yes, some translations unfortunately translate Nephilim as giants but in any case, there are no beings of great stature described in Genesis: even if one reads giants into Nephilim the fact remains that there are no beings of great stature described in Genesis and also the term giants would only tell you that they were taller than average (with Hebrew males of those days averaging 5.5 ft.).

True, “some scholars believe came into existence after powerful angels,” pause: the original, traditional, and majority view of the earlies Jewish and Christian commentators as I demonstrate in my book On the Genesis 6 Affair’s Sons of God: Angels or Not? subtitled A survey of early Jewish and Christian commentaries including notes on giants and the Nephilim.

Yet, the term Watchers does not appear in Genesis but only appears to refer to Angles in Daniel 4:13, 17, 23. Horn opts for this term due to its usage in apocryphal texts such as the Book of Enoch aka 1 Enoch aka Ethiopic Enoch—see my book In Consideration of the Book(s) of Enoch.

That they “used women (or their biological matter)” should not be an issue since the text notes that they got married and had children.

return20of20the20nephilim-7632801

As to that they “construct bodies of flesh, which they used to ‘extend’ themselves into the material world” makes us realize why Horn chose the unusual translation of “fit extensions.” Yet, by extend he must mean to have offspring since, of course, in order to mate with (“used women (or their biological matter)”) they would already have the ability to “‘extend’ themselves into the material world.”

In any case, Thomas Horn notes:
“The Apocryphal books of Enoch, 2 Esdras, Genesis Aprocryphon and Jasher support the Genesis story, adding that the sin of the angels grew to include genetic modification of animals as well as humans.”

We will see that this is exaggerated by two—and one out of three is not very impressive, nor would three be since the Bible’s 66 books know nothing of any such thing—and actually speak against any such thing, as we shall see.

Horn refers to “The Book of Jasher, mentioned in the Bible in Joshua 10:13 and 2 Samuel 1:18, says…” but we must pause since there is a distinction between the fact that the Bible refers to a book of Jasher and the question as to whether the book we have today (actually, the books (plural) that we have today) by the name is the book to which the Bible referred. Thus, it is a quick hop, skip and jump from that the Bible mentions a book and that book says.

The one to which Horn refers is generally dated to 1625 AD and that book states, “After the fallen angels went into the daughters of men, the sons of men taught the mixture of animals of one species with the other, in order to provoke the Lord” (4:18)” about which Horn tells us “This clear reference to the Genesis 6 record illustrates that ‘animals’ were included in whatever cross-species experiments were being conducted, and that this activity resulted in judgment from God.”

Now, there is an interesting issue here which is that the writer of that book was either somehow unaware of how genetics work (simply in terms of what can give birth to what) or was telling tall tales. It is tempting to think that while God’s creation reproduces after its own kind, fallen Angels would have the knowledge of how to mix kinds. However, an Occam’s razor approach would tell us that since we have one late dated apocryphal text versus many millennia worth of observation then the made up text is inaccurate.

But if, and I say since, Genesis 6 is about Angels mating with humans then this would prove that while God’s creation reproduces after its own kind, fallen Angels would have the knowledge of how to mix kinds. This gets a bit tricky since the fact is that biblically Angels look just like human males (no wings, no halos, see my book What Does the Bible Say About Angels? A Styled Angelology) and we are made “a little lower than the angels” (see Psalm 8:5-9 and Hebrews 2:6-9).
Jude 6-7 tells us that “the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation” will be judged “Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh” so the issue seems to be that such relationships were forbidden and not impossible due to being of different kinds, genetics, etc. For example, Sodom and Gomorrha pertained to human on human relationships but they were forbidden and not impossible.

Thomas Horn tells us that “The Book of Enoch also supports this record, saying that after the fallen angels merged their DNA with women, they, ‘began to sin against birds, and beasts, and reptiles, and fish’ (7:5,6).”
It is in cases such as these that double checking claims is key since this was a quick draw which rightfully notes that “The Book of Enoch also supports this record” but wrongfully makes the jump to that “to sin against” animals referred to merging DNA. This is simply not the case.

What the Enoch text states is:
“great giants…consumed all the acquisitions of men. And when men could no longer sustain them, the giants turned against them and devoured mankind. And they began to sin against birds, and beasts, and reptiles, and fish, and to devour one another’s flesh, and drink the blood. Then the earth laid accusation against the lawless ones.”

Thus, this is clearly about consuming/eating and not about genetic manipulation. But why would eating animals be sinful? Because the original God ordained diet was vegetarian and only after the flood were animals allowed to be eaten.

pop-culture and politics

One ubiquitously promulgated common misconception based pop-cultural talking point of a myth is that there has been an evolution of marriage so that one cannot claim that marriage between one man and one woman is traditional, normal, family value based, right, true, God given, etc.

Before thinking of an answer, or a counterargument, it is important to think about and dissect the question, the argument.

What does it mean to claim that marriage has evolved?

Bible

My new book “The Paranormal in Early Jewish and Christian Commentaries” is now available in paperback and Kindle ebook versions at Amazon—but be sure to see here first for my special offer to save you some money.

The subtitle of the book is, “Over a Millennia’s Worth of Comments on Angels, Cherubim, Seraphim, Satan, the Devil, Demons, the Serpent and the Dragon.”

Christian Apologetics

Serpent seed of Satan theorists claim that an accurate reading of Genesis 4:1 proves that the Bible is telling us that Cain is Satan’s son since Genesis 3 tells the story of Satan having sex with Eve.

As a pop-level representative of this view Zen Garcia claims that the original reading of that verse is, “And Adam knew Hava his wife, who had desired the Angel; and she conceived, and bare Kain; and she said, I have acquired a man, the Angel of the Lord. And she added to bear from her husband Adam his twin, even Habel.”

Are there a godly line of Seth and a wicked line of Cain?

I thought to post this since, as far as I can tell, it is common knowledge that there is a godly line of Seth and a wicked line of Cain. However, I have come to realize that common knowledge are those things that everybody knows even though nobody known how anybody knows.

Not only do people assert that there are a godly line of Seth and a wicked line of Cain but direct us to Genesis chaps 4-5 for proof.

Thus, here is a succinct review: I will not quote both chapters but only the most seemingly relevant points.

Chapter 4: firstly, God rebukes Cain for his attitude, “Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen?” and assures him “If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.”

After Cain murders Abel, God tells him, “now art thou cursed from the earth” but when Cain feels the burden of his curse and states, “My punishment is greater than I can bear” and “every one that findeth me shall slay me,” God, “set a mark upon Cain, lest any finding him should kill him.”

Then Cain builds a city and we are then told of Cain’s descendants, some of who dwell in tents and have cattle, some were musicians who handle the harp and organ, some are metalsmiths who work with brass and iron. The only untoward occurrence is that Lamech committed murder.

The chapter ends with that Seth begat Enos and “then began men to call upon the name of the LORD.”

cain20and20abel-3532835

Chapter 5: most of it is genealogy, we are told “Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him,” Lamech “begat a son: And he called his name Noah, saying, This same shall comfort us concerning our work and toil of our hands, because of the ground which the LORD hath cursed,” and that’s all folks.

Now, these are two different Lamechs as Cain’s supposed wicked line and Seth’s supposed holy line both contain names in common and, in fact, both lines include people with “el” in the names which is a reference to El-ohim.

This is not in the least bit impressive within the context of supposedly feuding lines of godly and wicked people. But, that is what the Bible states on the matter and nothing more.

sethite20cainites-5370101

Worse than the claim of forbidden pre-flood intermarriages between these lines is the claim of a wicked post-flood Cainite lineage—whole rule the world or what have you.

Noah descends from Seth. We do not know his wife’s lineage. If she was a Sethite then Shem, Ham and Japheth are full-blooded Sethites. If not then they are well, what are they?
You see, it is important to get away from the false dichotomy that the only possibilities are Sethites or Cainites. The fact is that Adam and Eve had many, many children and so if they were not Sethites, they could be of various other lineages other than that of Cain.

Yet, let us play the dichotomy game for a moment: if she was Cainite then Shem, Ham and Japheth would have been half Sethites and half Cainite.

We also do not have the lineages of the wives of Shem, Ham and Japheth which leads to the same issues: they could have been of various lineages but playing the game, the descendants for Shem, Ham and Japheth would have been half Sethite and half Cainite.

Now, if Noah’s wife or his daughters-in-law were Cainites well then, that would certainly account for post-flood Cainites.
However, that would actually not seem possible since if they were Cainites and the whole Genesis affair issue was Sethite males marrying and reproducing with Cainites then guess what? Noah and/or his sons also married Cainite “daughters of men” which would defeat the purpose of the flood in terms of it supposedly being meant to drown away half Sethites and half Cainites.

Yet, God specifically preserves Noah, his wife, their sons and their sons’ wives. Thus, they were not Cainites but Sethites of something else and so there are no post-flood Cainites. I know that this demolishes about 1,001 conspiracy theories but such as the facts.
