Yeah, thank you culture for delving into such depths of depravity that the term “revenge porn” had to be invented in the first place!!!
“Revenge porn”—and it feels all yucky even typing the term—denotes what the online posting of pornographic photos and videos of a person by the person with whom they just broke up after whatever level of relationship; from years of marriage to one night stands.
Such porn is posted to all sorts of blogs, (anti)social networking sites, video channels, etc. where, essentially, they will exist forever—FOREVER!
Now, it seems virtually impossible to be 100% assured that you will not be a victim of “revenge porn.” This is because even if you are an ethical person someone may hack into your computer’s video camera and record you while you are changing your clothes, they may hide cameras in your home, your workplace’s bathroom, even your spouse may secretly record your most intimate moments.
In such cases, it would be done without your consent, without you, yourself, doing it, and you would be a 100% victim of it having played no part in it.
On the other side of the issue, there is a 99% way to be assure that you will not be a victim of “revenge porn” (give or take a few percentage points). The 99% way is to NOT COMPORT YOURSELF LIKE AN UNETHICAL, DEPRAVED, SHAMELESS, PERSON WHO UTTERLY LACKS ANY SENSE OF INEGRITY!!!
Most “revenge porn” is of materials which were manufactured with the consent of both (or more) parties involved. Boys and girls, men and women send each other all sorts of pornographic images and recordings of themselves on purpose. They are literally releasing the self-porn into the ether where anyone can hack it, anyone can steal it, anyone can reproduce it and anyone can release at a whim.
The fact that you are AN UNETHICAL, DEPRAVED, SHAMELESS, PERSON WHO UTTERLY LACKS ANY SENSE OF INTEGRITY does not give anyone the right to take advantage of the fact that you are AN UNETHICAL, DEPRAVED, SHAMELESS, PERSON WHO UTTERLY LACKS ANY SENSE OF INTEGRITY but you, most certainly, are opening yourself up for it when you comport yourself in such a manner. If you did not, you would be 99% certain that nothing of the sort would ever happen to you.
Oh yes, indeed, this is useless advice because we live in a pop-occulture wherein people do not think that they ought to comport themselves in an ethical manner. Rather, they want to live by the motto “do what thou wilt” and expect that no one will use that which they do against them.
Follow this simple step and you will be 99% safe from “revenge porn”:
DO NOT COMPORT YOURSELF LIKE AN UNETHICAL, DEPRAVED, SHAMELESS, PERSON WHO UTTERLY LACKS ANY SENSE OF INEGRITY!!!
