The statement/question, Why do atheists fail to mention key details surrounding Noah’s flood when criticizing God for it? They never mention the Nephilim, The Book of Enoch, or the verses that say all flesh had corrupted his way and man’s intentions were only evil was posted to the Quora site and led to the following discussion when a certain Mark Stubbs replied
For the same reason I don’t mention Captain Hook, The Big Bad Wolf, The Evil Queen and the wicked Step Sisters to name a few, i stopped taking about Fairy Tales by the time I was 8 years old
I, Ken Ammi, replied
But that’s incoherently illogical since you merely asserted a positive affirmation of “Fairy Tales” and implied, but didn’t bother saying, that there’s something wrong with post-8 year olds believing in (supposedly alleged) “Fairy Tales.”
Is there anything wrong, on your worldview, with being incoherently illogical and believing in (supposedly alleged) “Fairy Tales”?
Andre Otherhand noted
The whole point of some religions is that you can get people to hate other people, it’s the old my gangs better than your gang thing. The Bible has become pretty irrelevant unless you have really deep beliefs, it’s the same with any old books really.
Ken Ammi
Are you attempting to insight hatred?
Also, referring to “religion” is painting with a broad brush broom: it’s too generic. How, for examples, is this “get people to hate other people”: “Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world” (James 1:27).
And what, on your worldview, is wrong with “get people to hate other people”—which I have to ask since you seemed to imply it but didn’t bother stating it.
Andre Otherhand
I did say some religions, as far as I’m concerned religions are made by people and people are fallible, if you have deep feelings for your religion you are entirely welcome to it, but over thousands of years I think most religions have got into the wrong hands at some time. Look what’s happening in the middle east at the moment, can you honestly say that is what any god would want in their name?
Ken Ammi
So the answer to the first question seems to be yes, right?
You doubled down on “referring to ‘religion’ is painting with a broad brush broom: it’s too generic” but being vague seems to help you express your hatred.
Upon what basis, on your worldview, do you judge what’s “wrong hands”?
I asked “what, on your worldview, is wrong with ‘get people to hate other people’”? but you conveniently ignored it and just doubled down by emoting about the Middle East so I now also have to ask what, on your worldview, is wrong with what’s going on there—which I have to ask since you seemed to imply it but didn’t bother stating it.
That brought the discussion to an end as no more replies were forthcoming.
