Atheism, evolution and intelligent design in “I Origins” movie

Interesting movie dealing with issues of Atheism vs. Intelligent Design.
Warning at t=30:50 into the actual full length movie there is some nudity to just shut your eyes for about two minutes. Also, circa t=56:00, the male character manipulates his very own genitalia; at least it is under his clothes.

Ultimately, the Atheist arguments within the movie are very poor and the ultimate resolution is, well, less than impressive. But it is an overall interesting movie that attempts to tackle some difficult issues even if poorly argued.

With regards to specific relevant scenes (see my video here to view these which I embedded below); the Atheist evolutionist states that he wants to detail the evolution of the eye from simple to complex because, “The eye’s the one sticking point religious people use to discredit evolution.” Well of course the eye is most certainly no such thing and this is how the movie presents argument that real life Atheists may use and yet, are poor and false (see Assumptions about eye evolution).
Even according to evolution the simplest eye does not evolve into the human eye as the organism with the simplest eye is not necessarily on the line which resulted in humans.

The Atheist evolutionist scientist within the movie seeks to take a blind organism and “build” an eye so as to “modify” the organism. Yet, “build” is intelligent design—the result of preconceived and continuous experimentation simply cannot result in blind, random, goal-less processes. Within this context even to “modify” is intelligent design as they are doing it with thought, forethought, conceiving of a plan, executing a plan and doing so towards a certain goal.

When the Big Bang happened there was already something somewhere, is what the movie (and the cosmogonic theory claim). Thus, apparently, God is not eternal but matter is.

At one point, the Atheist evolutionist current unmarried sex partner dies. But why is he so upset about matter changing forms when she dies; her atoms are still, like, out there maaaaaan and, in fact, that is the movie’s point as it is not premised upon a Judeo-Christian worldview theology.

She had previously stated, quite logically within the Darwinian context, that perhaps some humans mutated and thus, evolved an ability to perceive another realm of existence.

In any case, Darwinists will generally claim, without evidence but as it is typical just tell a Darwinian story, that theism came about as a Darwinian survival mechanism.

Why then are they attempting to get theists to give up their survival mechanism…besides that they literally consider themselves to be more evolved than thou and think that they have found the one truth: Atheism. In fact, since the majority of the world’s population are Christians, this proves that Christianity is the most successful Darwinian survival mechanism and a good argument as to why Atheists should convert to Christianity (see Evolutionary argument for Christianity or, why Atheists should convert).

An issue is raised regarding religious texts versus scientific knowledge. While this is interesting, it is confused as they tend to cover different subject. For example, science (here not referring mere curiosity, mere observation or even mere experimentation but to the rigors of the scientific method) was premised upon a Judeo-Christian worldview by Bible believers who reasoned that a rational being created a rational creation and populated it with rational beings who could rationally discern the creation.

If, for example, the Bible accurately identified the human predicament and proposed a solution long ago but it is still accurate then there is no need to change and update it. The Bible accounts for humanity’s capacity for beauty and terror and offers salvation as a gift by grace by the sacrifice of the Messiah Jesus. On the other hand, science is a tool intelligently designed to explore the material realm and it is folly to apply this specific tool towards a task it was never meant to perform. Science deals with the material realm only and thus, one cannot conclude from it that the material realm is all that there is. This would be tantamount to wearing rose colored glasses and concluding that shades of red is the only colors that exist.
