We conclude, from part 1 and part 2, considering recent issued raised by John Loftus and American Atheists’ very own Georgia State Director, Al Stefanelli. We are now dealing with Stefanelli’s article Taking The Gloves Off…When Diplomacy Fails, It’s Time To Fight Using The Law.
Picking up where we left off in the previous segment, note that Al Stefanelli states:
As long as they are allowed to exist, we will continue to be inundated with accounts of buses, buildings, markets and abortion clinics being blown up, rape victims being murdered for adultery, wives being beaten (sometimes to death), airplanes being flown into buildings, people being tortured and sometimes beheaded for blasphemy, people being burned for witchcraft and sorcery and all the other horrific, inhumane and insane practices that are part of fundamental Christianity and Radical Islam.
If we don’t take a stand and, as a society, insist that these doctrines and beliefs are treated just the same as they would be if religion were not part of the equation, we will become extinct not due to natural selection, but at the hands of those who believe that the supernatural has made the selection.
He urges atheists, and apparently all, to “take a stand and, as a society” but recall that he claimed that there are “growing ranks of fundamental Christians and radical Muslims.” So, which society? The tiny but vociferous atheist activists? The growing militant religionists? Which? Seems that a set up for a showdown at the not-O.K. Corral—may the fittest win.
In fact, if we become extinct it will, most certainly, be due to natural selection for according to his atheist worldview: what else is there? You see, that is the thing about atheism: they claim that “religion,” that the supernatural, are delusions that helped humanity survived during its early evolutionary stage. Now, nature cares not (if it may be anthropomorphically stated that nature “cares” for anything) for truth but only for survival (why? No one knows). Thus, since one can survive by ascertaining empirical truths or by being utterly deluded, atheists cannot condemn “religion” / the supernatural as it assists people survive.
Ah, but now we come to the utter arrogance of atheism. You see, it is them, it is they, who are more evolved than thou and who are un-naturally, as it where, selecting you to evolve to their lofty stage by giving up your dangerous superstitions and accept their absolute truth claims. They believe that evolution has made the selection—and they win. Even though, by the way, as noted in the previous segment, while “religious wars” account for less than 7% of 10,000 years’ worth of war, the twentieth century was both the most secular and the bloodies in human history. Atheists more evolved? I trow not.
Overall, Al Stefanelli had better keep his own ranks in check and constantly make them understand that he is referring to eradicating doctrines and not living people. The very first comment to his article is astonishingly indicative, “…I agree that to be a quiet Atheist is tatamount [sic] to not being one at all…” Really? Who made this commentator the dogmatheistic promulgator of that which an Atheist does and does not do. What’s next, a true Scotsman?
