Aleister Crowley and L. Ron Hubbard – the bolt from the blue

Whilst in Egypt, in 1904 AD, with one of his very, very, many, many sex partners de jour (he did not discriminate between male and female) Aleister Crowley encountered the Stele of Revealing / Stele of Ankh-ef-en-Khonsu which, much to his delight, was museum exhibit # 666.

During that same trip, Crowley made contact with a “præterhuman intelligence” known as Aiwaz or Aiwass whom Aleister Crowley described as follows:

He seemed to be a tall, dark man in his thirties, well-knit, active and strong, with the face of a savage king, and eyes veiled lest their gaze should destroy what they saw.

This intelligence dictated the Book of the Law to Crowley (the text wherein a hawk headed god pecks out Jesus’s eyes—see, here for a parsed article about the book). Crowley stated that the revelatory situation hit him like “bolt from the blue” (Crowley, Confessions, p. 388).

L. Ron Hubbard, founder of the Dianetics and Scientology, was the magickal scribe for John Whiteside (Jack) Parsons who headed the California branch of a Crowlian organization (the Hotel California where “they just can’t kill the beast”).

Dianetics advertises itself as “The bolt from the blue that began a worldwide movement.” This statement is based on L. Ron Hubbard’s own statement to the effect of “Man had no inkling whatever of Dianetics. None. This was a bolt from the blue.” (Bent Corydon and L. Ron Hubbard, Jr., L. Ron Hubbard: Messiah or Madman?, 1987 AD ed., p. 262 and speaking of L. Ron Hubbard, Jr. aka Ronald DeWolf, see L. Ron Hubbard’s son speaks out: Scientology or satanology?).

Of course, the ultimate meaning to lightning as a symbol is when Jesus stated:

I watched Satan fall from heaven like a flash of lightning (Luke 10:18)
