Albuquerque Bernalillo County Deputy Jim Goff needs to learn that preaching the pseudo-gospel of atheism is not part of his job description.
Deputy Jim Goff is an adherent of the positive affirmation of God’s non-existence sect / denomination of atheism.
While ousting Christian protesters from public property, outside of a Rob Zombie concert, he took it upon himself to expound his unverifiable “faith” based beliefs,
I am a non-believer, there is no god, there is no Jesus, there is no Satan.
He also stated the following to a man who was video recording him,
You must have a crush on me, man are you like a gay homosexual, you keep filming me.
And a thousand civil rights lawyers bounced out of bed. Actually not, since “A member from the lesbian and gay community said she was also saddened by the deputy’s comments, but said she also blames the protestors.” In other words, if she has to choose between condemning an atheist or Christians, well, there is no choice is there; the homophobic atheist Deputy is let off of the tolerance/diversity hook.
Another interesting aspect is that the Deputy shouted at the crowd of concert goers whether they wanted him to kick the Christian protestors off of the property, something with which the crowd eagerly agreed.
One of the protestors asked if their being kicked off of public property was based on law or majority opinion. Good point. It was later asked what would have happened had the crows stated, “No.”
Here is one of the relevant reports:
BERNALILLO COUNTY, N.M. — A Bernalillo County sheriff’s deputy is caught on video getting a little too personal. He escorted a religious group protesting a rock concert away from the event about a week ago and let everyone know exactly how he felt. A religious group called the Watchman for Christ showed up to protest the Rob Zombie concert on July 17 at the Pavilion amphitheater. A YouTube video showed crowds lined up outside the pavilion during the Mayhem Festival. The protesting group was standing next to them, holding signs. The group’s cameras filmed the interaction with the sheriff’s deputy. “You have two choices: go, or go to jail,” said BCSO Deputy Jim Goff, in the YouTube video. Goff was joined by another officer in trying to get the group of protesters to leave the private property. He asked them if they had tickets to the concert. Protesters had questions of their own. “These people are free to be out here, why can’t we?” a protestor said in the YouTube video. “Guys, guys, do you want them to stay or go?” Goff is heard in the YouTube video asking the crowd. In the video, the crowd said, “Go.” During the long walk off the property, the protestors continue to question Goff about religion. “I am a non-believer. There is no God. There is no Jesus. There is no Satan. There is no heaven. There is no hell,” Goff said. Once protesters made it out of the immediate property, the video shows several deputies who joined in to help escort the group. Goff then asked one final question to the person holding the camera. “You must have a crush on me. Man, are you like a gay homosexual or something? You keep filming me,” Goff said. Eventually, members of the religious group are arrested. The sheriff said Monday that Goff’s comments were very inappropriate.
Internal Affairs is now investigating. Officials said Goff will remain on the job until the outcome of the investigation.
