Could you spot a shaved Neanderthal in a New York subway?
Kathleen Sinnott wrote Stringer breaks down evolution, predicts future for The Crusader Online, November 16, 2012 AD, Vol. 54, No. 10
Anthropology Professor Chris Stringer begins the elucidation of his views on human evolution by “beginning with the evolution of chimpanzees as well as southern apes including the Neanderthals.”
In his 1871 AD book The Descent of Man Charles Darwin wrote that “man is descended from…the Old and New World monkeys” in ch. XXI:
By considering the embryological structure of man, – the homologies which he presents with the lower animals, – the rudiments which he retains, – and the reversions to which he is liable, we can partly recall in imagination the former condition of our early progenitors; and can approximately place them in their proper place in the zoological series.
We thus learn that man is descended from a hairy, tailed quadruped, probably arboreal in its habits, and an inhabitant of the Old World. This creature, if its whole structure had been examined by a naturalist, would have been classed amongst the Quadrumana, as surely as the still more ancient progenitor of the Old and New World monkeys.
For some odd reason either Kathleen Sinnott took it upon herself to write (or else she is quoting Chris Stringer) in noting that “Neanderthals looked extremely similar to humans” and then oddly add that “but did not have chins.” Well, any viewing of a somewhat complete Neanderthals skull will show that they had chins.
In any regard, she continues:
They had long, wide and large noses with a huge brain inside their skull, causing their heads to be enormous. Most of them had red hair…
‘If you shaved and dressed a Neanderthal and put them on the New York subway, no one would be able to tell the difference between us and them,’ Stringer said.
So they were apes who, shaved, look just like humans? But then again, fur/hair does not fossilize and so they do not know how it was distributed; whether it was body-wide or not (like us).
Also oddly, just after noting that Neanderthals had “a huge brain” it is noted that the “most important phase” of our supposedly alleged evolution was after “pre-humans” were “coming out of Africa, where human characteristics were evolving” and then the “most important phase, he talked about humans, where brains were increasing in size and behavioral complexity was improving.”
So our supposedly alleged ape ancestors, the Neanderthals, had huge brains (which are bigger than human brains) and so human have smaller brains that evolved from larger brains but human brains were increasing in size from bigger to smaller—or, something!
The article ends with:
…what he predicts for the future of humans. Due to all of the processed foods we eat, our guts are decreasing in size, as well as other important organs in our bodies. Our brains are shrinking, but our skulls are continuing to grow. Our backs will begin to hunch and our arms will look abnormally long.
Perhaps he is well on the way towards uncovering another future vision by Evolutionary theorist Oliver Curry who, very much in line with The Time Machine’s division into Eloi and Morlocks, predicts that humans “’may split in two” (and we may add, likely by design or rather, purposeful manipulation).
Also, the National Intelligence Council’s “Global Trends” for 2030 AD predict, “Brain-machine interfaces could provide ‘superhuman’ abilities…The high cost of human augmentation means that it probably will be available in 15-20 years only to those who are able to pay. Such a situation may lead to a two-tiered society…Moral and ethical challenges to human augmentation are inevitable,” see here.
