What are actors? You know, these people with whom such a large portion of pop-occulture is obsessed?
Well, they are people who say things written for the by someone else, who pretend to be someone else, who wear clothes picked out for them by someone else, who’s make and hair is done by someone else. Then, they can (outside live theater performances) they can do many takes of the same scene wherein they are light by lighting experts and in scenery set up by specialists.
Moreover, so very many of them are wrecks in their personal lives for various reasons. One may be that they would not seek fame unless they had some desire to be “worshipped” or at least highly praised, showered with attention, etc. Also, imagine going to an audition or meeting with a potential talent manager and being asked, “So, are you willing to spew pure filth out of your mouth? How about showing off your naked body and ‘simulating’ sex? Will you glorify violence and every sort of unethical social ill?” etc., etc., etc. If you say “No” due to your integrity they reply will likely be, “Well, if I try really hard, maybe I can get you a Q-Tips commercial.”
So you see, you cannot even get your foot in the door without being highly ethically compromised in the first place.
Then there are deeper and darker issue pertaining to “deal with the Devil” however symbolic or literal that may be. For example, there are claims about such people suffering from multiple personality disorder aka dissociative identity disorder by nature or design such as through MK-Ultra or Monarch mind control programing.
Aleister Crowley noted that a quick way to get possessed is to be an actor. Of course, acting is none but exhibiting an alternate personality—playing a pre-scripted role as a dissociated personality.
In keeping with such troubling issues, I ran across a very interesting article John Cusack: ‘Hollywood is a whorehouse and people go mad’, The Guardian, September 25, 2014 AD.
Here are some of the highlights (or, actually, lowlights) therefrom (with emphasis added for emphasis).
The movie Maps to the Stars (which I have not seen and know not much about) is said to be “David Cronenberg’s…savage Hollywood takedown that riles the studio system for its absurdity, then vilifies those obsessed with fame.”
“In Maps, Cusack plays Stafford Weiss, a therapist who got rich off…the showbiz elite…“You saw heavy combat as a child,” he tells Havana Segrand (Moore)…“If we can name it, we can shame it.”
“LA seems to be a place where…People are looking to turn their pain into beautiful art, but they also want to be famous. And there’s so much money – so of course all the predators come in.”
“Age is currency in the Hollywood of Maps…A 26-year-old actress is ‘menopausal’ according to her teenage co-stars.”
“The film’s writer, Bruce Wagner, has dismissed the idea that Maps is satire. He has, he claims, heard every line of the script said in earnest…Which bits of the film reflect Cusack’s own experience? ‘Almost everything,’ he says.”
“I got another 15, 20 years before they say I’m old. For women it’s brutal…I have actress friends who are being put out to pasture at 29. They just want to open up another can of hot 22. It’s becoming almost like kiddie porn. It’s ****ing weird.”
“People would look after you [in Hollywood] when I was a kid…Now it’s different. The culture just eats young actors up and spits them out. It’s a hard thing to survive without finding safe harbour.”
Cusack says, “It’s no longer a place, it’s a nostalgic idea. The mega-corporations have stepped in, bringing with them the era of the 50-producer movie. In modern Hollywood the franchise is king, the star is used as leverage. “You can’t make it up,” says Cusack. “It’s a whorehouse and people go mad.”
“Why wouldn’t you have contempt for the movie business? It sucks most of the time.”
John Cusack starred in “Stephen Frears’s The Grifters, the 1990 neo-noir that saw him break up with the teen genre by playing a con artist fighting Oedipal urges.” This refers to the Oedipus complex whereby, or so the theory holds, a child’s develops sexual desires for their own parents: thus, incestuous pedophilia of a sort.
“If I could do something like sell watches in China, then I would do that and just make movies like Maps.” This seems to imply that he would prefer to be out of Hollywood and make movies exposing it.
