Desmond Tutu: hell no “homophobic heaven”

Desmond Tutu is a South African retired Anglican bishop and all around social rights activist. He recently stated the following during a United Nations meeting to embark upon a gay-rights movement in Cape Town.

In part, he stated:

I would not worship a God who is homophobic and that is how deeply I feel about this. I would refuse to go to a homophobic heaven. No, I would say sorry, I mean I would much rather go to the other place.

I am as passionate about this campaign as I ever was about apartheid. For me, it is at the same level.

The point of this article is to consider that, for one, Desmond Tutu has chosen sides. We have frequently noted that there is a difference between homosexuality as two same gendered people who love each other and homosexuality as an activist movement.
As a movement, homosexuality turns into a worldview whereby all things are viewed and judged according to homosexuality.

Which political party and politician to support? What theology is and holy book is true? What is right, true, good, moral ethical and what is wrong, false, evil, immoral and unethical?

What is tolerant and celebratory of diversity and what is not?

All of these questions, and more, are answered by the activist movement worldview by a consideration of homosexuality. If the politician, religion, etc. accepts (or, actually endorses) homosexuality then it is acceptable, if not then not.

The key point, however, is to note that many have made statement similar to Desmond Tutu which asserts the toppling of millennias long Judeo-Christian adherence to the Bible in favor of disregarding the Bible in favor of endorsing homosexuality.

The fact is that one can be 100% against homosexuality but be 100% in favor of treating homosexuals equally. In fact, if one is against homosexuality due to the Bible then the must, by the very same biblical dictates, be in favor of treating homosexuals equally. This is because the Bible tells us: If we consider homosexuals our neighbor; then the Bible tells you to love and pray for them. If we consider homosexuals our enemies; then the Bible tells you to love and pray for them. If we think that homosexuals hate us; then the Bible tells you to love and pray for them. If we think that homosexuals curse us; then the Bible tells you to love and pray for them. If we think that homosexuals persecute us; then the Bible tells you to love and pray for them. If we think that homosexuals spitefully use us: then the Bible tells you to love and pray for them.

If we think that homosexuals mistreat us; then the Bible tells you to love and pray for them.

Desmond Tutu, et al, should tell us what other sin they are willing to choose over YHVH, over the Bible, over heaven?
Will he state:

I would not worship a God who is adultery-phobic and that is how deeply I feel about this.
I would refuse to go to an adultery-phobic heaven.

How about this:

I would not worship a God who is idolatry-phobic and that is how deeply I feel about this.
I would refuse to go to an idolatry-phobic heaven.

One could go on like this all day. Point is that each group that excuses, supports, endorses, etc. any sin could make the very same statements. Desmond Tutu has shown why he is a retired bishop as he is no longer qualified to feed the flock.
