Thabo Kunene’s article Worship the Devil and get rich, says Zimbabwean Satanist (RNW, November 6, 2013 AD) oddly states that “in July 2011, Zenzo Ncube…was converted to Satanism. Now, he’s a Christian again. But he has no regrets about the days he claims to have run with the Devil” and that “Ncube, a 23-year-old university student in Bulawayo, agreed to be interviewed on the condition of anonymity.”
Perhaps Zenzo Ncube is a pseudonym but we are told dates, name, place of residence, age and that he attends university; how is this anonymity?
In any regards, On that faithful (or, faithless) 2011 AD day a friend came to visit Ncube, “What Ncube didn’t know was that in the meantime” since they had not seen each other, “his friend had become a Devil worshipper”:
“His friend went to great lengths to try to lure Ncube into the dark world of Satanism, promising him lots of money and other riches if he would join the Satanist movement. At the time, Ncube’s family was struggling to make ends meet. After several days of relentless pressure from his friend, Ncube gave in. He became a Satanist.”
Indeed, many who feel powerless attempt to gain power by becoming involved in the occult or by taking it out on YHVH in a different way by becoming Atheists (and there is certainly some crossover between the two):
“Ncube says the first day he went to worship the Devil with other Satanists in a house in Cowdray Park, a Bulawayo suburb, he had a vision at night. ‘I saw a bottle. Inside there was blood and a voice told me to drink it to receive powers,’ he says. Ncube claims in the vision he also saw people dying in road accidents and Satanists drinking the blood of the victims…All the Satanists I got to know during my time in the movement had comfortable lives. No one suffered or was poor. This is why many youths are joining these movements.”
As it turns out, Ncube states, “when I became a Satanist, things started changing for me. It was easy to find work.” Indeed, satan can grant power, wealth, drugs, sex, etc. and yet, “what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?.” (Mark 8:36).
As time went on and his family was surprised by his sudden successes “Ncube told them that being a devout Christian had turned his life around, ‘I knew I was lying because lying is one of the Devil’s trades.”
Pertaining to satanic rituals:
“Ncube and other Satanists would allegedly worship the Prince of Darkness three times a week at midnight. During these sessions, the group leader of the movement led the members into incantations. Ncube claims ‘spirits from hell were called out to fill the worshippers with power.’”
In the end, “a self-proclaimed prophet of a local Pentecostal church exposed” the house wherein the rituals took place as a meeting place for satanists and Ncube was forced to admit to his family that he was involved, “They called in the prophet to banish the Devil’s spirit inside him.”
But was the devil banished? What about the statement that “Now, he’s a Christian” and that he is one “again” and yet, that “he has no regrets about the days he claims to have run with the Devil”?
“Ncube says he is recovering well from his time as a Satanist, although he does not regret joining the movement, because it made him richer than he had ever been before.”
So, what will he do when his much beloved ill-gotten gains wane away? Will we read, “Now, he’s a satanist again. And has regrets about the days he claims to have been a Christian”?
