A resident of Randfontein (in western Gauteng, South Africa, west of Johannesburg) named Keamogetswe Sefularo was ritually murdered by a 15-year-old girl who stabbed “her friend to death as part of a satanic ritual” as she admitted to the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s High Court. She did so as to “move up the ranks of a satanic cult” and because it was thought that Sefularo “posed a threat to the cult because she knew its members and their practices” since she has “decided to leave a cult.” However, other reports note that “the friend who stabbed her had allegedly said to Keamogetswe: ‘We are Satanists and are about to kill you.’” The cult’s activities included, “visiting graveyards and members cutting themselves and sucking each other’s blood.” Judge Geraldine Borchers, who sentenced the assailant to a sentenced of 8 years in the juvenile section of the Leeuwkop prison, noted:
“The deceased was touching her, pleading with her and asking her why she was doing this.”
Sefularo was stabbed upon the chest, neck and stomach while the assailant’s 19 year old boyfriend encouraged her to continue the stabbings.
“The court heard that the girl had hoped to gain financially from satanism. She believed her spirit would be able to get into key holes and into a bank where she could steal money, said Borchers. It was horrific that such a young person could be lured into satanism because of a desire for money, she said…‘Had the accused been 10 years older, I would have imposed life imprisonment.’”
Keamogetswe Sefularo died in the hospital after stating:
“I love you, mommy and I don’t want to leave you.”
She had been found between her school and her home, “She lay among the filth of discarded nappies, dried fasces and construction rubble.” Sefularo’s brother, Zali Nxabi “told Times Live that his sister’s friend had stormed into their home on Saturday while the family was holding a prayer meeting”:
“We recorded everything she told us and about how they were instructed by their ‘leader’ to kill Keamo…She (the friend) said the leader and the girl who did the stabbing sucked Keamo’s blood from (a wound) on her neck.”
It is thought that “Part of their initiation from their leader is that they must kill someone, drink their blood and probably, if they can, get a body part and bring it to him.”
“The community has been plagued by incidents of Satanism, and 10 pupils from the school have been suspended over it. When officials visited the school…they found some pupils with school books that had pictures and poems of the devil and devil worship.”
