One particularly interesting and puzzling scene is only a few seconds long is very, very telling in an occult symbolism manner.
Emilio Estevez’s character Alex Furlong is pulled into the future via high tech. He views a cityscape wherein an electronic billboard which displays a happy/smiley face and the billboard then displays “Welcome to New York!” with the date of “November 23, 2009” and “Only 32 Shopping Days till X-mas!!!” Seeing the date, Furlong pulls off his racecar driver’s wristband which shows that he had been taken from “1991.” Then we see the cityscape again and one of the electro-signs states, “Suicide.”
Finally, the camera moves upwards to show a very tall, pyramidal topped, building.
Disambiguation—as much as this is speculation, here is what I see within the scene:
The happy/smiley face which, as seen at the end of the video embedded below, has occult connotations.
“November 23, 2009” of course, November is month number 11 and as per Aleister Crowley, 11 is the number of magick itself. Specifically, magick spells as such denotes serious occult witchcraft as opposed to the magic of stage illusionists. In fact, the difference in spelling is a “k” which is the 11th letter of the alphabet. According to occult numerology 2009=11 since 2+0+0+9=11. Of course, 2009 can be viewed as ’09 which leaves us with a styled 11 and 9 or 9/11.
“23” is known via the 23 enigma as it is known which was explored in the Jim Carrey movie “The Number 23.” The occultist Robert Anton Wilson notes that William S. Burroughs was the first note the enigma.
“Only 32 Shopping Days till X-mas!!!” the “32” may be a reverse “23.”
“1991” could be seen as 1+9=10, 1+0=1, 1+9=10, 10+1=11.
There are a few billboards in the scene and they are difficult to read. For example, the one stating “Suicide” then has another word appearing under the word “Suicide” but I cannot discern it.
So, we have occult numbers which involve 9 also 11 and an enigma along with “suicide” and tall building in New York—whatever all of that means.
