Eric Minerault has been arrested for that which is termed “suspicion of unlawful symbol burning” by Prescott Arizona police spokesman Lt. Ken Morney. This took place outside of the Gospel Rescue Mission and Lt. Morley also stated:
He said that he chose the mission because he believed it was a place of Christian worship and he was cursing the Christians.
Minerault—who calls himself “Dark Lord” and was found wearing a black and red robe with a pentagram necklace—is said to have burned the Bible (not a Qur’an; thank God or else you would see it ALL OVER the news!) and indeed, a roasted, and wet, Bible was found at the scene; it was wet due to him having urinated on it.
It is rather odd that he was arrested and perhaps there were fears of arsony or something. After all, urinating on and burning a Bible could very well have gotten him a government sponsored grant for fine arts. Indeed, Police were originally called to the scene due to a report that someone was burning something.
But not to worry Urination Lord; ACLU to the rescue!
Legal director for the American Civil Liberties Union of Arizona, Dan Pochoda, noted that Eric Minerault arrest may have violated his freedom of speech rights; because burning and urinating on a Bible is what the Founding Fathers had in mind when they sought to protect “speech”—apparently.
However, courts have upheld laws that bar symbols like crosses from being burned.
For some time, Eric “Dark Lord” Minerault had a YouTube presence as he uploaded videos of his music when he was attempting to start a black/death metal band. For example, he performed the little ditty called “Death Don’t Care.”
