“The Inhumans” is an ancient astronaut / ancient aliens story in that Inhumans are the result of an aliens called the Kree performing genetic experimentation on some form of evolutionary early humans miiiiiiiiiiiiillions of years agooooooooo. The recent movie “Guardian of the Galaxy” introduced us to one of the Kree namely, the character named Ronan (within that movie there are also other results of genetic experiments such as Rocket who is a talking bounty hunter raccoon).
As characters, they date back to the Fantastic Four issue #45 1965 AD with two Inhumans making individual appearances in issues #36 and #44. These were based on Greek mythology as one was Medusalith Amaquelin Boltagon aka Medusa (one time member of the Fantastic Four and Frightful Four) and the other was Gorgon who is modeled after a Minotaur with bull-like legs.
The Kree’s reason for being within our solar system in the first place was the Kree vs. Skrull War at which time the Kree stationed themselves on Uranus.
The Inhumans lived in a city called Attilan (Atlantis?) which was on the “Blue Area of the Moon.” After some time, the Kree abandoned the transhuman Inhumans who developed their own high tech, etc.
Now, Erich von Daniken published his first book Chariots of the Gods in 1969 AD and Zecharia Sitchin published his first, The 12th Planet in 1976 AD. However, these are the more well known of a bunch of early ancient astronaut / ancient aliens theorists. For example, Erich von Daniken essentially plagiarized Louis Pauwels and Jacques Bergier in 1960 AD book The Morning of the Magicians (aka The Dawn of Magic first published in France as Le Matin des Magiciens).
Daniken, Sitchin, et al., also claim that early humans became advance due to genetic manipulation by aliens who eventually left them to fend for themselves. So does life imitate art, does art imitate life, do ancient astronaut / ancient aliens claims imitate comic books, do comic books imitate ancient astronaut / ancient aliens claims…or it is all none but a modern myth?

A substance called Terrigen Mists is used to give Inhumans various and sundry superpowers (Terrigenesis) but can be bio-hazardous to non-Inhumans.
The Kree may have been attempting to augment their own evolution and/or produce super soldiers. In any regard, the Inhuman have returned to Earth on occasion so as to involve themselves in human affairs via interaction with the Fantastic Four, the Avengers and the X-Men.

Of the many characters within the Inhuman mythos, some form the Royal Family: Black Bolt / Blackagar Boltagon: King of Inhumans; has a destructive hypersonic voice. Medusa / Medusalith Amaquelin Boltagon: Bolt’s wife, Queen the Inhumans; has prehensile hair. Crystal / Crystalia Amaquelin Maximoff: has the power to manipulate the elements. Gorgon: causes earthquake s-like shockwaves. Karnak: has no superpowers as he decided to not undergo Terrigenesis but can sense opponent’s weak points via a form of martial arts training. Triton: is fish-like. Lockjaw: large bulldog who serves as the transporter for the Royal Family. Maximus Boltagon / Maximus the Mad: mind-control abilities. The Unspoken: morphing abilities. Ahura Boltagon: psychic abilities.
Luna Maximoff: was born human but was genetically mutated via the Terrigen Crystal.

There is also the Royal Guards: Dinu: Terrigenesis deformed him and so he wears a mask, seeing his actual face may cause death. Naanis: is a tree-like being.
Neifi: has reptilian features with gray skin which is armor-like.
There is also a Genetic Council: Arcadius: can animate statues. Avia: has bird-like wings. Carthus: is blue skinned and has red horns.
Other members are Cynas, Furgar, Kitang, Porcal, Sapphiras, Targon and Thernon.
Overall, as with most comics of the past three fourths of a century or so; this one is premised upon aliens, genetic experimentation in short; one or another form of transhumaism, by any other name.
