The 2015 AD movie The Devil’s Candy was directed by Sean Byrne and stars Ethan Embry as Jesse Hellman, Shiri Appleby as Astrid Hellman, Pruitt Taylor Vince as Ray Smilie, Kiara Glasco as Zooey Hellman, et al.
Ethan Embry’s character Jesse Hellman—how do you like that: Hell man—is a painter who is seen illustrating butterflies which are generally symbolic of mind control. For example, one or more of them as straight up Monarch butterflies which symbolizes the Monarch trauma based mind control experiments which are somewhat like the CIA’s MK-Ultra mind control experiments.
The movie follows this styled basic theme even whilst not being about governments, actual experiments, etc.
The Pruitt Vince character Ray Smilie is a gatherer of “the Devil’s candy” and for what does the devil has a sweet tooth? Well, Smilie is clearly under the control of forces which direct him as to what to do. Hellman is also coming under similar powers. Well, children are the Devil’s candy. So, we have mind control symbolism employed so as to tell us that people are being moved to do certain things which in the case of the movie is to traumatically kidnap and murder children.
Since Hellman’s name is clearly symbolic I wonder if Smilie is meant as a styled reference to the dark occult side of the smiley face.

Pruitt Vince also starred in the 2003 movie “Identify” which is all about a man undergoing psychiatric therapy as he suffers from multiple personality disorder aka dissociated identity disorder.
The ending is somewhat vague but it seems that the Jesse Hellman either ends up taking on the role of gathering up the Devil’s candy or else he becomes Jesse Heaven-man who is to redeem the souls of children who have been taken away—or, something.
