Discussion of Dr. Kent Hovind on Who Were the Nephilim in the Bible?

A certain Simon Sinha posted a vid titled “Who Were the Nephilim in the Bible?” credited as “Speaker: Dr Kent Hovind (Evangelist)” on his Facebook page.

Robert Baker replied

Angels are Spirits and were Created Genderless. So there is no way they had the ability to mate with Human Females to have offspring.

I, True Freethinker, replied

Robert Baker

Angels are described as looking just like human males and performing physical actions and without any indication that such isn’t their ontology. Why would they only be missing THE key features of the male anatomy? See my book, “What Does the Bible Say About Angels? A Styled Angelology”: https://www.amazon.com/stores/author/B071NW4F4W/allbooks

Jude 1:6-7 KJV — And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day. Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.

Robert Baker

Went from talking about the Sins of Fallen Angels to talking about the Sins of Sodom and Gomorrah.

In fact, Jude and 2 Peter 2 combined refer to a sin of Angels, place that sin to pre-flood days and correlate it to sexual sin which occurred after the Angels, “left their first estate,” after which they were incarcerated, and there’s only a one-time fall/sin of Angels in the Bible.

No, it means that Fallen Angels like Sinful Humans will be punished the same. Angels’ 1ST estate is to be faithful and to serve God. They are still Spiritual Beings and gender neutral. Even though they are Fallen Angels, God is still and always in control, and would never allow them to change themselves to take on Physical Form with the ability to procreate.

Jesus, who created them stated in Matthew, Mark, and Luke: “For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven.”

The descendants of Seth are the Sons of God mentioned starting from Genesis 4:25-26:

25 And Adam knew his wife again; and she bare a son, and called his name Seth: For God, said she, hath appointed me another seed instead of Abel, whom Cain slew.

26 And to Seth, to him also there was born a son; and he called his name Enos: then began men to call upon the name of the Lord.

Romans 8:14: “For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God”.

John 1:12: “But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God”.

Galatians 3:26: “for in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith”.

1 John 3:1: “See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are”.

The Book of Revelations 12:7-17 describes a War in Heaven between Satan and the Angels he defiled against the Angels of God led by the Faithful Archangel of Michael. Satan was defeated along with his Angels and were cast out of Heaven to Earth.

Well, sure, “Fallen Angels like Sinful Humans will be punished the same” in the end: what of it?

When you wrote “Spiritual Beings” did you confuse “spirit” with “Spiritual”? If you meant “spirit” then there’s no indication of that (regardless of one single poorly translated word in your modern English Bible).

You asserted “gender neutral” but have you read every single description of them in the Bible? They look just like human males, ontologically.

You merely asserted, “they are Fallen Angels…never allow them to change themselves to take on Physical Form with the ability to procreate” but 1) again, they didn’t take on physical form, they were created with a physical form already and 2) their procreation is what made them “Fallen.”

What does “For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven” have to do with this?

Yes, “The descendants of Seth are the Sons of God mentioned starting from Genesis 4:25-26” but what of it?

You use past tense terms regarding Rev 12 but I’m unsure why you think that war already happened.

Robert Baker

True Freethinker

God only allowed them to possess people during the time of Christ and the Apostles to show God’s power over them. He did not allow them have the ability to mate with Humans. They are Spirits that live within the Spiritial Plane. The Physical Plane exists within the Spiritual, but the Spiritual Plane is invisible to the Physical unless God allows. The Angels do not have the hope of Eternal Salvation like Humans do when they fall. That War did already happen and the Devil and his Angels were cast out of Heaven to Earth.

Robert Baker

Let’s do it this way: provide quotations and citations from God’s Word to back your assertions or just admit you’re making up stuff. If it’s the former I’ll be very, very pleased to be corrected. If it’s the latter then the only thing to discuss will be that you need to repent and reply on God’s Word.

As for, “That War did already happen”: do you happen to know when—since it was post-Jesus’ ascension?

As for, “the Devil and his Angels were cast out of Heaven to Earth” and yet, Jude and 2 Peter 2 tell us they were incarcerated, not “cast…to Earth.” Also, biblically, post fall Satan still appears before God so, again, when was he, “cast…to Earth”?

Brian White

Robert Baker

What does that tell you? The vine of Sodom.

Luke 17:28 KJV — Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded;

Matthew 24:37 KJV — But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

No study “strange flesh”.

In both these days Sons of God mingled with earthlings.

Do you know what that means?

It means that when Jesus returns those same behaviors will be going on.

Brian White

True Freethinker

Yes they fall between Genesis 1:1 and Genius 1:2.

But remember they don’t die.

They find their way back into reproduction over and over.

Its about to happen again.

They will take cloning to a whole new level.

Ezekiel 10:14 KJV — And every one had four faces: the first face was the face of a cherub, and the second face was the face of a man, and the third the face of a lion, and the fourth the face of an eagle.

Robert Baker

The difference between Fallen Angels and Mankind is that God only provided his plan of Salvation to Mankind.

Revelations 12:7-9:

7 And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels,

8 And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven.

9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

But there’s no indication that “they fall between Genesis 1:1 and Genius 1:2” rather, there’s indication that the Angels fell during the Gen 6 timeline.

Indeed, “they don’t die” which is why as per Jude and 2 Peter 2, they were incarcerated.

Unsure what Cherubim have to do with this—besides that Satan is a Cherub, not an Angel, and his fall was during the Gen 3 timeline.

I noted, “provide quotations and citations from God’s Word to back your assertions or just admit you’re making up stuff” but you’re doing neither but just moved the goalpost: that’s no way to sharpen iron with iron.

Well, that ended it since no more interaction was forthcoming.
