Rotten Tomatoes describes the movie American Ultra as follows:
Small-town stoner Mike Howell (Jesse Eisenberg) spends most of his time getting high and writing a graphic novel about a superhero monkey.
What Mike doesn’t know is that he was trained by the CIA to be a lethal killing machine.
When the agency targets him for termination, his former handler activates his latent skills, turning the mild-mannered slacker into a deadly weapon.
Now, the utterly surprised Mike must use his newfound abilities to save himself and his girlfriend from getting wasted.
The movie American Ultra was released August 21, 2015 AD, was directed by Nima Nourizadeh and also stars Kristen Stewart as Phoebe. See my video on it at the end of this article.
Well, this movie certainly has poop-culture appeal and someone has obviously been reading their, fact based, conspiracy theories.
It has grunge looser monosyllabic unmarried sex having druggies so that basically describes our youth culture de jour (with “youth” including failures to launch who are well into their mind 30s).
With a tile such as American Ultra they hint and with the premise they are being very, very blunt. This is because MK-Ultra was a secret CIA based experiment (along with other MK projects) on mind control including turning people into sufferers of MPD / DID: multiple personality disorder which has been updated to be known as dissociative personality disorder (see my short story Short story: “I, DID (or, On the Splitting of the Pineal Gland). This is for the purposes of having alter personalities who have been trained to be, say, assassins residing within a person unbeknownst to any, including themselves, except for their programmers, higher ups, etc. Amnesia walls are erected so as to hide the alters.
With a hypnotic induction phrase, the alters could be called up and given instructions, etc.
Well, this is the exact premise of the movie. Mike thinks that he is inventing graphic novel about a superhero monkey but he is really expressing repressed memories of the fact that he, himself, is a superhero trained monkey of sorts.
Early in the movie, an agent literally speaks a phrase to him so as to access the alter—yet, his drug addled brain take a whiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiile to process it maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan.
Along with the new TV show Blindspot, the new movie American Ultra examples the latest of a very, very long list of stories within books, TV shows and movies about something to the likes of an amnesiac who only gradually regains the knowledge of who they truly are and that is that they turn out to be 135 pounders who can beat up entire armies because they were mind control trained, etc.
